Handicap Index / Course Handicap

A Handicap Index is the measure of a player’s demonstrated ability calculated against the Slope Rating of a golf course of standard playing difficulty (that is, a course with a Slope Rating of 113).

A player’s Handicap Index will update daily if the player submitted a score the day before.  On days when the player does not submit a score, no update will take place.

In order to establish a Handicap Index, a total of 54 holes must be played and posted to your scoring record. These scores can be made up of any combination of 9 or 18 hole rounds. 9-hole scores are combined in the order that they are received to form 18-hole Score Differentials that are used to calculate your Handicap Index. Once you have posted a total of three 18-hole Score Differentials, a Handicap Index will be issued to you the very next day.

A Course Handicap is calculated from each player’s Handicap Index.  Preprinted scorecards will show the 9-hole Course Handicap calculated for the 9 holes being played that day as well as dots to indicate handicap strokes received.

A League Handicap Report will be printed every two weeks  and will be posted on the league bulletin board at the course on the Tuesday before a play day.
