Atlanta Amateur Match Play Championship

ELIGIBILITY

Entries are open to male amateur golfers.  Handicap indexes listed in the current revision at the time entries close will be used in determining eligibility. 

FIELD

120 players with the lowest handicap indexes and the defending champion will comprise the field.

FORMAT

  • Thursday, October 4th - 18 holes stroke play for all 120 players
    • Low 31 and defending champion advance to match play
  • Friday, October 5th - a.m. Round of 32, p.m. Round of 16
  • Saturday, October 6th - a.m. Quarterfinals, p.m. Semifinals
  • Sunday, October 7th - a.m. Championship Match

PRACTICE ROUNDS

One practice round per player. Practice rounds will be available on the designated dates and times below, based on club availability. Practice rounds are for players only. Please call Echelon Golf Club to reserve your practice round starting time after September 20th, but no more than 48 hours in advance. Practice round cart and range fee is $30 inclusive. Cash and credit cards will be accepted for golf shop payments.

  • Monday - Thursday, based on availability.
  • Saturday-Sunday after 1:00 p.m. based on availability.

YARDAGES & TEES

The GSGA BLUE tee markers will be utilized during the championship.  Yardages are approximate and may be adjusted due to inclement weather or other factors that may affect the playing conditions during the competition. Yardages are posted via the Event Portal.

GOLF SHOP &

DRIVING RANGE:

The golf shop and driving range will open by 7:30 a.m. each day of the championship.

STARTING TIMES

Starting times for tournament play will be assigned by the GSGA and posted at the club the day before the competition starts. You may visit www.gsga.org for complete pairing information and starting times beginning September 30. No starting time requests will be honored.

REGISTRATION

No formal registration will be held.  Instructions will be given on the starting tee. 

CARTS

Practice round cart and range fees are $30 inclusive. Cash and credit cards will be accepted in the golf shop. Cart fees are required for all aspects of the Championship.  Players who choose to walk must still pay for a cart.  Practice round and match play cart fees are the responsibility of the player.  Thursday, October 4th stroke play cart fee is part of the entry fee.  Cart fees for match play will be $30.00 inclusive per day and will include range balls.  Cart fees for match play will be charged to the player after the conclusion of the championship and will be made to the card on file in the registration system.  

CADDIES

Caddies are permitted. Players may provide their own caddie.

FOOD SERVICE

Food service will be available from the clubhouse every day. Cash and Credit Cards will be accepted for F & B.

PRIZES

Gift certificates will be awarded to the 32 players that advance to match play.

REFUND POLICY

A $30 service charge will be retained by the GSGA on all refunds granted prior to the close of entries. Entry fees will not be refunded after entries close unless there is a waiting list and your spot can be filled. Withdraws after the close of entries must be made by notifying the GSGA Rules and Competitions Department at (770) 955-4272 or via e-mail.
