Hampshire Golf's Flagship Team Matchplay Event

Each Affiliated Club shall be eligible to enter. ENTRANCE FEE - £80.00 per team. To be entered and paid by 11.59pm on 11th February 2024

 

  1. Each team shall consist of SEVEN players who must be Full or Junior Members of the represented club and must have declared the Club their ‘home’ Club for handicap Purposes.
  2. No player may represent more than one club in each annual competition.   A player banned or suspended by his ‘home’ Club may not take part in this competition.   A player banned or suspended from playing at any course or club entered in this competition may not play in any match played at the course or club
  3. Play will be by singles match play over 18 holes off handicap. Each game will continue by ‘sudden death’ until a result is obtained.
  4. WHS Regulations apply, Handicap Index (HI) limit 15.0. A player with a higher HI may play but must play off a HI of 15.0. Handicap allowance shall be 100% of the full difference in Course Handicaps in accordance with the Rules of Handicapping (Jan 2024), Appendix C - Handicap Allowance. It shall be the responsibility of the Team Captain to produce on the day a list of names of his players showing their respective handicap index, current on the day. Any Team playing a player off the wrong index will be disqualified.
  5. Clubs are asked to ensure that all their Team Members have  at least 8 qualifying scores on their WHS record within the previous 12 months from the day of the match. A qualifying score can be General Play or Competition scores. Any team playing a player who is ineligible under this rule, will mean disqualification for the whole team. 
  6. The Club at the top of each pair as drawn in the preliminary and first round matches shall have choice of venue. Thereafter until the semi-finals, when a new draw will be made, the winners of the matches in the appropriate section of the draw shall toss a coin (recommended to use odd or even on the Lotto Bonus Ball) for the choice of venue. However, in Group 1 the CI Final will be played in Guernsey (2024). In Group 4, the fourth round match involving the Isle of Wight side shall be a Home (2024) fixture for the IOW side.
  7. The ‘home’ Club must offer their opponents a minimum of three dates to play a match, at least three dates must be on a Saturday or Sunday and if possible, on different weekends. Clubs should arrange matches in the true spirit of Amateur Golf. The host Club is normally requested to give a courtesy practice round to their opponents however in 2024 this cannot be guaranteed. With tee times at a premium, it may not be possible to offer a courtesy round, especially at peak times. Please contact the host Club to find out the situation.
  8. Visiting Teams are asked to abide by the ‘home’ Club’s Rules and Regulations at all times, both on and off the golf course.
  9. Matches must be arranged in plenty of time to allow for any postponement due to course or weather conditions. FAILURE TO COMPLETE MATCHES AND REPORT THE RESULT BY THE DUE DATE MAY LEAD TO BOTH TEAMS BEING DISQUALIFIED.
  10. Please note that agreed tee-off times must be adhered to. Failure may lead to either an individual match or team disqualification.   
  11. The Secretary or Captain of the winning match shall immediately report the result by phone (01962-711532) or e-mail (secretary@hampshiregolf.co.uk or admin@hampshiregolf.co.uk) to the County Office at Hockley Golf Club. It remains the responsibility of both clubs in each match to ensure the match is played and result communicated, by the due date. Please only assume the match result has been received when you receive a confirmation from the County Office or see the draw updated on Golf Genius.
  12. Matches will be played in accordance with the Rules of Golf and the local Rules of the Club where the match is played.
  13. In event of both Team Captains deciding that weather or course conditions are such that play is impossible, the match shall be re-arranged so that it can be completed by the final date of that round. Should the Captains disagree, the match must be played.
  14. The winning Club shall hold for one year the Inter Club Knock-Out Championship Trophy. Mementos will be awarded to the winning club & runners-up. Prizes will be awarded to the finalists Clubs to the following values: 1st = 500, 2nd = 300, 3rd = £200 & 4th = £100.
  15. In Groups 1 and 4 some financial assistance to ‘away’ teams, as decided by the Committee, shall be awarded to Channel Island and IOW Clubs and if these Teams then reach Finals Day. Clarification can be given before entry, by contacting the County Office. Although we hope the financial assistance will cover the cost for travel to the final, if the costs exceed the County's budgeted allowance, players or Club will need to prepared to cover those extra costs.

PLEASE NOTE:

In addition to the competitive element, many clubs treat these matches as a friendly and social occasion. There is no obligation to provide food or refreshments on completion, but Captains can communicate if they wish to entertain the visiting team after play.  Players must be prepared to dress according to the rules of the host club, both on the course and in the Clubhouse

 

IN THE EVENT OF A DISPUTE THE DECISION OF HAMPSHIRE GOLF SHALL BE FINAL
