Format:

  • This event is a two-man team event.
  • Day one will be a Team Scramble.  Both players will tee off, and the team selects the shot from where they want to play next.   Both balls can be lifted, cleaned, and placed within the one club length allowed from the selected shot, no closer to the hole, keeping the ball in the same condition.  This process will be repeated until the ball is holed.  USGA handicap allowances for day one are 35% low and 15% high.
  • Day two will be the best net ball with selected double-up holes.   Each player will play their own ball with a USGA handicap allowance of 85%.  The team score will be the better of the two balls except for the three par 5s, where both scores will count.   The balls will be played down on day two unless announced otherwise on the first tee.
  • All putts must be holed.
  • There will be no maximum scores during this event.   All actual gross scores will be entered into the mobile app throughout.
  • Teams will be divided into four flights based on the total team HCP.   HCP used will be based on the player's indexes at the time that signups close.
  • The best total net team score for the two days will determine the order of finish within flights.
  • Online mobile scoring will be required from one member in each foursome.  Another player will keep a paper scorecard.  Teams are responsible for verifying the two scores agree before signing and handing in the card.
  • Courses are Cherokee/Creek
  • Play will be from any tee chosen by the player at signup.   Tee selections will be Black, Blue, Blue/White, White, White/Gold, and Gold.   Consider your choice carefully, as there will be NO tee changes once signup closes.

Playoffs:  Tournament Champions will be determined by a playoff on Creek 9 between flight winners.  The combined net score of the two team members will be used during the playoff as the team score.   The overall champions will receive trophies.

Ties:
  • Flights and Divisions: all ties will be resolved using the USGA 9/6/3/1 methodology, applicable to both Big Canoe Buck and cash pool payouts.  The winner of a tie (or ties) will be the player or team with the best score for the back 9 holes (irrespective of starting hole), and if not resolved, the last 6, last 3, and last hole in that order.  If a tie is not resolved on the back 9, the same process will be used for the front nine.  If there is no winner at this point, the tie will be resolved by chip-off as described below.
  • Playoffs (if applicable):  During a playoff, ties will be resolved by chip-off.   All players will chip using any club they choose to use, and the closest to the pin will win.

Flight Payouts:  The number of places paid will be determined by the number of total teams, with the payout approximating 40% of the field.  Payouts will be in Big Canoe Bucks, and from the cash pool as outlined below.

Cash Pool:  $50 per team:  A cash pool is available for all interested teams.   The cash pool entry is $50 per team and will be collected on the first tee on Friday.   Participation is by team only, with no individual participation (however, one partner may buy in for the entire team).  Please be prepared to pay at the first tee as all monies have to be collected at that point to be in the pool.  The cash pool is paid to the top teams in each flight and for final playoff positions.  The amounts will be determined based on total participation.  While teams not entering the cash pool may still participate in the playoffs, they will not receive prize money from the cash pool, and the payouts for other teams will be adjusted accordingly.

Proximity:

  • Closest to the pin awards on all par 3 holes, both days
  • Each winner receives $50 per CTP, payable in Big Canoe Bucks.

Food & Beverage: Saturday Box Lunch.   Choice of ham, turkey, or roast beef, selected at signup.   Keg after Saturday's round.

Entry Fee: $50 per member

The Entry Fee listed includes all tournament and F&B functions (if included) but does not include golf and cart fees.  The pro shop will calculate and bill those based on your individual status as an amenity member.   The entry fee includes funding for the CTP, and you will be automatically entered.

Signups:

  • The field will be limited to the first 48 teams to sign up.
  • You may select your partner and must sign up as a team.   If you are a single and would like to play, email Keith Sievers at pilot114@mac.com, and he will try to match you up with another player.
  • If one of the team players withdraws during the signup period, the entire team will be deleted from the roster.   The remaining player may find a new partner but must sign up again as a new team.
  • Tee sheets will be posted the evening that signups close.

Big Canoe Cup Points:  20 points for all participants plus participation points equal to one point per Big Canoe Buck won, not including CTP awards.

Score Posting:

The day one scramble will not be postable.   Day two will be a postable round.  The MGA will post scores.  Make sure that in the Golf Genuis system and on the scorecard there is a score for every hole, either actual gross or most likely gross.

Local Rules:  Local Rules in effect on the day of the tournament will be covered at teeoff by the professional staff.

Late Withdrawals:  Cancellations must be made by the close of signups.   You may cancel your registration by editing it and clicking the cancel registration button.  Players who cancel after signups close will still be charged the tournament fee.

Tournament details listed above are subject to change until the official sign-up opens.
