Format/Field Size

Maryland Junior Amateur:

The tournament will be a 54-hole stroke play conducted as follows:  All competitors, regardless of age, will play from the same yardage. The low 30 scores and ties and those within 8 strokes of the leading score will play in the final round, Wednesday, June 26. The Champion will be the low gross 54-hole score in the field. Where applicable, the winner of each age category will be determined by the low gross 54-hole score. Otherwise, the age group winner will be the low 36-hole score. In the event of a tie for the Championship only there will be a hole-by-hole play-off at the conclusion of play on the appropriate day.

 

Maryland Girls’ Junior Amateur:

The tournament will be a 54-hole stroke play conducted as follows:  All competitors, regardless of age, will play from the same yardage. The low 12 scores and ties and those within 8 strokes of the leading score will play in the final round, Wednesday, June 26. The Champion will be the low gross 54-hole score in the field.  Where applicable, the winner of each age category will be determined by the low gross 54-hole score. Otherwise, the age group winner will be the low 36-hole score.  In the event of a tie for the Championship only there will be a hole-by-hole play-off at the conclusion of play on the appropriate day.

 

12-14 & 15-18 Divisions (Boys & Girls)

Players will also be competing within their respective age/gender division. Where applicable, the winner of each age category will be determined by the low gross 54-hole score. Otherwise, the age group winner will be the low 36-hole score. In the event of a tie for the division winner, the tie will be broken based on a matching of cards as recommended by the USGA.

 

Starting Times: Tournament Starting Times will be emailed approximately one week (7 days) before the event. Times can also be found by visiting the Tournament Portal or www.msga.org.

 

Caddies: Caddies are not permitted at this Championship. All players will have to walk. Players can either carry or use a pushcart. 

 

Spectator Carts: Spectator Carts will not be permitted during this championship except for a spectator who can provide an issued and active Handicap Permit.  

 

Practice Rounds: Players can schedule a practice round on most afternoons from 2:00-2:30 p.m. Sunday, June 23rd tee times will be set aside from 1:00-2:30 p.m. Certain days leading up to the championship will be blacked out due to events scheduled at the club.

 

The practice round rate will be $10, walking only. Only players can play; additional guests will not be permitted to play alongside the player. Parents are able to walk with players. Please call the golf shop to schedule your practice round (410) 293-9747. 

 

Tournament Yardage: The official tournament yardage will be updated several days before the event. 

Estimated Boys Division: 6,700-6,900 yards

Estimated Girls Division: 5,700-6,000 yards

This Championship is recognized by Junior Golf Scoreboard.

This Championship will be a counting WAGR event.

 

Withdrawals/No Shows: Players who Withdraw or No Show during an event without a justified reason (injury, illness, family emergency, etc.) may not be allowed to participate in future MSGA events.  

 

Posting: The MSGA will post scores to GHIN as a tournament score. 

 

Prizes: Crystal trophies will be awarded to the winners of each age division and the overall champions.

Rules: USGA Rules govern all play. The player is responsible for being familiar with Local Rules and Conditions of Competition for MSGA Championships.
