Welcome to the 2024 San Francisco City Men's Championship, presented by AmateurGolf.com.

 

Thank you for playing in one of the most popular and historic city championships in the country. Below is some important information for players:

 

SCHEDULE

A 36-hole match play qualifier will be held March 9-10, 2024, with 18 holes played at TPC Harding Park and 18 holes at Presidio Golf Course for a combined 36-hole qualifying score. There will be 156 players in the qualifying round with 64 players advancing to match play.

 

A playoff will be conducted at TPC Harding Park at 4:00pm to break any tie for the final qualifying spot(s). In the event of a playoff, a player must be present at Harding Park in order to retain his right to participate in the playoff. If you are playing Sunday at Presidio, please take driving time into consideration.

 

All match play rounds will be played at TPC Harding Park.

 

Schedule:

Sat-Sun Mar 9-10: Stroke play qualifying, Harding Park and Presidio; playoff if necessary at Harding Park

Sat Mar 16: 1st round match play, Harding Park

Sun Mar 17: 2nd & 3rd rounds of match play, Harding Park

Sat Mar 23: Quarterfinals and Semifinals, Harding Park

Sun Mar 24: 36-hole final, Harding Park

 

**SPECIAL NOTE**

Daylight Savings Time STARTS Sunday, March 10, which means that you will set your clock FORWARD one hour. If you do not plan for this, you are likely to miss your tee time on Sunday! So please be aware of the time change.

 

STARTING TIMES

Pairings for stroke play qualifying will be released to this portal no later than Sunday, March 3. At each course, there will be a morning double-tee start running from 8:00am-10:00am.

 

Successful qualifiers will have their match play tee times emailed to them as soon as possible before each round of match play, and they will also be available at the tournament portal for SF City Match Play and on the San Francisco City tournament website.

 

TEES

At Presidio, play will be from the Black tees at ~6500 yards. At TPC Harding Park, play will be from the Blue tees at ~6800 yards. Exact yardages will be subject to weather and course conditions.

 

TOURNAMENT EXEMPTIONS TO WINNER

The winner of the San Francisco City Men's Championship will receive an exemption into the Porter Cup, the Southwestern Amateur, and the NCGA Amateur Championship.

SCORING

All scoring will be electronic using Golf Genius. We encourage you to download the app if you don't have it already. Each group will be given a unique GGID to use when entering scores and we will verify at the scoring table after the round.

 

SCORE POSTING

We will post scores to GHIN for the stroke play rounds.

 

PRACTICE

Practice rounds are not included in the tournament entry fee, and players must contact the golf course to arrange a practice round. Practice rounds are available at the course subject to the San Francisco City and County approved green fee rates and current reservation system requirements.

 

The practice areas at Presidio and TPC Harding Park will open at 6:45am.

 

CADDIES/TRANSPORTATION

The use of carts is prohibited for players and caddies in the Men’s Championship Flight (Appendix I – Local Rule Applies).

 

SPECTATOR POLICY

Please relay this policy to any spectators you may wish to bring with you to the course.

 

Disruptive or inappropriate behavior contrary to the good conduct of the tournament in the determination of the Committee will not be tolerated. NO SPECTATOR CARTS.

 

- Please remain on or near car paths wherever possible

- Please stay at least 10 paces away from putting greens and teeing areas

- Do not talk to players during the round. Any conversation could be viewed as advice

- Make sure cell phones are on silent.

- Pictures are permitted; however, do not take pictures during a player’s stroke or routine. Make sure your flash is turned off

- Keep up with the players you are following. Do not follow behind players in the fairway as you could be preventing groups from playing
