ABOUT THE U.S. JUNIOR AMATEUR:

The U.S. Junior Championship is considered among the most difficult of all USGA championships to win. A field of 264 players competes in two rounds of stroke play before a cut is made to 54 who compete in single-elimination match play. The Champion is decided in a 36-hole final match played on Saturday.

Winning the Junior Amateur has marked a pivotal moment in the careers of future major champions, including Johnny Miller (1964), David Duval (1989), Tiger Woods (1991, 92, 93), Brian Harman (2003), Jordan Spieth (2009, 11), Scottie Scheffler (2013).

2024 will be the first time Oakland Hills Country Club has hosted the U.S. Junior Amateur. It will also be the inaugural Championship to be played on the South Course following the recent restoration to its original Donald Ross design. The first-ever Junior Amateur was won by Dean Lind in 1948 at the University of Michigan Golf Club. The Championship has been hosted three other times in Michigan including Lochmoor Club (1962), Pine Lake Country Club (1980), and Egypt Valley Country Club (2010).
