Welcome to the Wednesday Night League!

 LEAGUE RULES 2024

FORMAT:  PARTNER MATCH PLAY

Teams:  2 Person teams - players should be no more than 10 strokes apart to help keep a level playing field.

Flights:  Determined by combined team handicap.  Field changes yearly.  There is no guarantee that you will be in the same flight from year to year.

Format:  Partner Match Play—This is a net game.

Scoring:  20 Point System (1 point per hole + 1 point for winning each match =  10 points per match (20 points total))

· Team of 2 partners play in 2 separate Head-to-Head matches against another team within the same flight.

· The player with the better net score on a hole, wins the hole and gains 1 point.

If the net score on a hole is the same, each player receives ½ point.

· The player who takes the most points after 9 holes or after the most completed holes, wins an additional 1 point.

If you and your opponents combined points = 4.5 for each for the match, the 1 bonus point is split; .5 and .5

Scorecards & Golf Genius - Each foursome will receive a reference scorecard for their match. This card does not need to be turned in at the end of play. The official scoring for the round will be done on the Golf Genius Mobile App. Matches that do not turn post their score to Golf Genius will result in a SPLIT(10-10). If there are issues with the Golf Genius app during the day of play, take a picture of the completed scorecard and email it to andrew@golfinvenice.com.

DUES Must be paid online at the time of registration. Team registration  Dues are $125 per player ($250 team total) for the 2024 season. Golf fees for the end of year 18 hole tournament will be included in the dues as well as lunch and prizes. Weekly fees will be $25+tax for non-member and $21+tax for members.

Absences: If one person in a team is absent, he/she forfeits and scores as follows:  3 strokes will be added to his/her current handicap for that round. If an entire team is absent, both players forfeit and the opposing team takes 12 points after the completion of play. The forfeiting team takes 6 points. Please note, a player cannot participate in the skin competition unless accompanied by at least 2 other players (3 players or more). Absentee matches will equal a total of 18 points instead of 20.

If your team is absent more than 2 consecutive weeks without notification to the PRO SHOP your team may be removed from the current season of play.

Schedule:  Play rotates between Capri Isles, Calusa Lakes and Waterford.  Waterford is a 27 hole facility, Calusa and Capri are 18 hole facilities.  All are Championship golf courses. USGA rules govern all play

Handicaps are updated through the GHIN service and will be updated every week after the first 4 weeks of play.

Hole in One Club - $10 per person, all Holes in One during the season and including the tournament will be split and paid out at the tournament banquet. If the pot is not won during the current league season, it will be carried over to the following season. We had no winner in 2023. All players who are carried over from last season are listed on the "Hole In One Club Participants" under the Players/Information tab.

Skins — Skins will be awarded within your own flight. This is an optional weekly skins game.  The $5.00 is due prior to teeing off.  If no skins are awarded in a certain week, the money is rolled over and a player adds an additional $5.00 to be entered the following week.  A player wishing to enter who was not previously in, owes $10.00.  It will be VERY APPARENT if there is a rollover. Rain outs will not result in a pot increase and only increase if a completed flight rolls over.

Tees: Men’s Flights 1-9 will play from the #2 tees. Flight 10 will play from the #3 tees.

Ladies Flights 1-3 will play from the #4 tees. Flight 4 will play from the #5 tees.

*RAIN POLICY - In case of inclement weather, when the course has not been officially closed, a decision must be made by BOTH teams to quit and the points will be split.  A team cannot be forced to play in threatening weather.  If less than half the flight completes the match, the ENTIRE flight will split points.  A match is considered complete when 5 or more holes are completed.  If more than half the flight completes 5 or more holes, the match is complete and those choosing not to play will split points.

-

We will be using GHIN Handicap service to calculate league handicaps.

All players will have a GHIN handicap starting this summer. If you do not have a current GHIN, Golf in Venice will provide all players a GHIN that will expire Dec, 31st 2024.

Why are we using GHIN? (Golf Handicap & Information Network)

The overall goal is to allow clarity in how handicaps are kept and controlled.

What does using GHIN mean?

Every player will have a handicap that is automatically updated each week based on an average of their scores. Handicaps and scores can be tracked through the GHIN Mobile App.

What if I already have a GHIN?

League will use your current GHIN to calculate your handicap each week. All scores posted to GHIN during league will not be considered "competition scores". You will not have to post any scores from league, all scores from league will be posted by the league manager.

What do I need to do now that we are using GHIN?

Nothing! GHIN is an automatic service that will use the scores from Wednesday Night League play to calculate handicaps, only players who've played and produced a score will see their score posted to GHIN.

When will we start using GHIN?

The 5th week of league will start GHIN for handicap calculations and kickoff low net prizes. Before Week 5 handicaps will be adjusted manually.

What happens after Dec, 31st 2024 if I didn't already have a GHIN?

You will need to pay a yearly fee to the FSGA or a local golf club to continue using your account.
