2018 U.S. Amateur Sectional Qualifying

This notice serves as confirmation for U.S. Amateur Sectional Qualifying Rounds on Monday, July 23, 2018 at Hannastown Golf Club & Totteridge Golf Courses in Greensburgh, PA. Qualifying is 36-holes and the field is 106 players. The number of spots the field is playing for is four (4) and two (2) alternates. Additional information will be distributed on the starting tees. The locker room and practice facility will open at 7:00 AM the day of the qualifying rounds.

 

Please note each competitor will be playing one (1) round each at both courses. Please note the Starting Times & Groupings for both rounds. Lunch will be available to all players and caddies at the course where they will compete for the second round. The distance between Hannastown and Totteridge is 4.3 miles.

 

Format: 36-holes of stroke play. Play is governed by the USGA Rules of Golf and any Local Rules and Conditions distributed prior to play. In the event of a tie for the final qualifying spot or any alternate, a hole-by-hole playoff will take place on holes to be determined by the Committee.

 

Distance Measuring Devices are permitted for the qualifying round.

 

The “One Ball Rule” is in effect for the qualifying round.

 

Grooves conforming to USGA policy are required for the qualifying round.

 

Tee Markers: All play is from the USGA tee markers. Hannastown will play par 70 at roughly 6,650 yards and Totteridge will play pat 72 at roughly 7,100 yards depending on conditions.

 

Pace of Play: The maximum allowable time will be four hours and twenty minutes (4:20) at Hannastown, and maximum allowable time at Totteridge will be four hours and fourty minutes (4:40) at Totteridge. A checkpoint system will be in place for the qualifying round.

 

Practice: Practice rounds are available and must be pre-arranged by contacting each club's respective golf shop.

 

The Golf Professional at Hannastown is Craig Mankins and the golf shop phone number is 724-836-8643. Practice rounds are available Monday - Thursday, and after 1:00 PM on Saturday and Sunday, or at the discretion of the golf shop. The fee is $45.

 

The Golf Professional at Totteridge is Rick Gay and the golf shop phone num ber is 724-724-837-6700. Practice rounds are available Monday - Friday for $45, and after 1:00 PM on Saturday and Sunday for the normal club rate, or at the discretion of the golf shop.

 

Practice round fees are the responsibility of the player. Practice range balls are complimentary the morning of the competition.

 

Transportation/Caddies: Walking is required. Neither courses offers caddies. Players may bring their own caddies. Caddies must walk in performance of their duties during the qualifying round. Players are permitted to use push trolleys for the qualifying round.

 

Food: The WPGA provides coffee, juices, and whole fruits prior to the round and water on the course. All other food and beverage charges are the responsibility of the player.

 

Footwear: METAL CLEATS ARE PROHIBITED. THE PENALTY IS DISQUALIFICATION.

 

Lodging: Lodging of various price ranges can be found in the Greensburg area.

 

Evacuation Plan: In the event of a suspension of play for a dangerous situation, players are to return to the club house immediately. The WPGA will assist in returning players to the club house.

 

Note: A suspension for a dangerous situation will be signaled by one prolonged air horn note. All other types of suspension will be signaled by three consecutive air horn notes, repeated. Resumption of play will be signaled by two short air horn notes, repeated.

 

Spectator Info: No spectator carts will be permitted for the qualifying round without pre-approved ADA verification. Please contact the WPGA office for ADA guidelines.
