2023 Men’s Club Championship
Terms of the Competition
1. General
The Rules of Golf provide that the Committee has responsibilities before, during and after play including setting the Terms of the Competition.
The Committee is responsible for the competition and is required to ensure the competition is conducted in a manner consistent with the Rules of Golf as and will resolve disputes and render decisions. The Committee for the Men’s Club Championship is comprised of the following members:

The Men’s Club Championship consists of the following competitions:
The Perpetual Trophy - Tournament Champion
The Randles Trophy - Intermediate Champion
The Senior’s Plaque – Senior Champion
The Clarence (Gabby) O'Hearn Tray - Super Senior Champion
2. Eligibility
General Eligibility
The Club Championship is open to Men in the following member categories - all Full Playing categories (including Couples & Family), all Intermediate categories, Member 30 and Member 20.
Competition Specific Eligibility
Intermediate - players under 30 years of age as of Aug 5th, 2023.
Seniors - players 55 years of age or over as of Aug 5th, 2023.
Super Seniors - players 65 years of age or over as of Aug 5th , 2023.
3. Schedule of the Competition
Entry period Tue, Jul 18th 7:00am to Fri, Jul 21st 6:00pm
Draw will be posted Tue, Aug 1st
Competition Sat, Aug 5th
Sun, Aug 6th
(Mon, Aug 7th if required)
4. Method of Entering the Competition
Players may register for the competition online using the Club Championship registration process located on the Men's Tournament Directory Page. A maximum of 168 players will be accepted to play in the Championship.
5. Draws
The Saturday draw will be based on entry handicaps. Lowest handicaps will start first on #9.
The first group of the day will be comprised of (if playing):
the defending Club Champion
the current Junior Club Champion
the player with the lowest index
The Sunday draw will be based on gross score and divisions – highest score starting first.
Any player, regardless of division, within 4 shots of the lead or in a tie for 12th place overall or better, will be moved up in the draw and will start on #1 with the final groupings.
6. Tees
All competitions will be played from the White tees.
7. Practice areas
Practice areas during the competition are defined as:
The practice putting green adjacent to the clubhouse.
The chipping green in the out-of-bounds area behind #2 tee.
The warm up cages adjacent to the cart storage shed.
8. Rules and Handicaps
1. The Official Rules of Golf (2019) and the Local Rules will govern play.
2. The player is responsible for knowing the Rules of Golf and the Local Rules.
3. Players must have an up to date handicap in the Golf Canada handicap system.
4. Player handicaps for the competition and determination of divisions will be extracted from the handicap system on Mon, Jul 31st. All rounds completed by 6:00pm on Sun, Jul 30th must be posted in the Golf Canada system.
5. If a player begins the competition with a handicap higher than that to which he is entitled, he will be disqualified.
6. The competition will be divided into 4 divisions of approximately equal size for the purposes of awarding prizes.
7. The Match Committee has adopted Golf Canada policy on the use of motorized transportation. Only senior players (55 and over) and players with a serious permanent disability will be permitted to use motorized transportation.
9. Ties
1. Ties for the following trophies will be decided by sudden death playoff:
Perpetual Trophy - Club Champion
Randles Trophy - Intermediate Champion
Senior’s Plaque - Senior Champion
Clarence (Gabby) O'Hearn Tray - Super Senior Champion
2. First playoff (see priority listing below in 3.) will start on #18, go to #9 if necessary, then continue in that order until a winner is determined.
3. Other playoffs will start on #1, go to #2 if necessary, then go to #8 if necessary and continue in that order until a winner is determined.
4. Should there be more than one playoff the Committee will play them using the following priority listing:
1. Club Championship
2. Senior Championship
3. Intermediate Championship
4. Super Senior Championship
5. Rose Bowl Qualifying
5. Prior to tee off for playoffs the Committee may set a time for a darkness cutoff. At the cutoff time the hole being played will be the last hole played and the playoff will resume the following day.
6. All other ties, gross and net, will be settled by matching of cards using USGA regression (i.e. best back nine, last six, last three, etc.)
10. Prizes
1. The Championship trophies will be awarded to the low gross player in each of the competitions below. Players who win more than one competition (only those listed below) will be awarded the trophy for each.

2. Prizes will be awarded for overall tournament winners as well as division winners. Players can only win one prize and will be awarded the prize with the greater value. Prize winners will be determined in the following sequence:

11. Close of the competition
The competition is closed when the Committee announces the results and presents prizes.
