Match Play - Rules of Competition

Format:
Five (9) hole matches in which teams, each consisting of two golfers, will play each other in a variety of formats, including: Scramble, Best ball, and Total-score. All rounds will take place on East Potomac Golf Links (Blue Course).

Saturday, May 31
Registration/Check-In - 7:00 AM: Coffee, Bagels, Muffins 
1st Match - 8:00 AM Shotgun: Scramble format
2nd Match - 11:00 AM Shotgun: Best-ball format
Welcome Party - 2:00-4:00 PM: Buffet meal: BBQ, Taco Bowl, Hamburgers

Sunday, June 1
Registration/Check-In - 7:00 AM: Coffee, Bagels, Muffins
3rd Match - 8:00 AM Shotgun: Scramble format
4th Match - 11:00 AM Shotgun: Best-ball format
Lunch - Noon: Boxed Lunches 
5th Match - 2:00 PM Shotgun: Total score
Awards - 4:30 PM 

Handicaps: Teams' handicaps are taken into account. For the Scramble format, an average of a team's handicap is used. For Best-ball & total-score format, 80% of a teams handicap is used. 

Tees:
Men will compete from the Blue Tees for the Scramble format & White Tees for Best-ball and Total score. 

Women will compete from the Red Tees.

Scoring:
A maximum of 11 points is available for each 9-hole match. A team winning a hole results in (1) point, a team halving a hole results in (1/2) point, a team losing a hole results in (0) points. 2 points will be awarded to the two-person team that wins their respective 9-hole match.  If both teams are tied after a 9-hole match, 1 point will be awarded to each team. 

The team with the most amount of points at the end of the 5 matches will win. In the event of a tie, a sudden-death playoff will take place on the 18th hole of the Blue Course immediately following play.

Prizes:
Overall Champions (Two-Person Team) will receive the 2025 World Pride Capital Cup Match Play Trophies & Medals
Second Place (Two-Person Team) will receive team medals.
