The Three Foundations

Paul Lawrie Foundation, Stephen Gallacher Foundation and Barrie Douglas Foundation each host events, annually, for the top young golfers throughout Scotland (and further afield) to compete against one another.  Although each event – The Paul Lawrie Foundation Junior Jug , The Barrie Douglas Foundation Junior Masters,  The Stephen Gallacher Foundation Trophy & Vase  and the Foundations ‘Open’– has its own, distinct identity and each event carries points counting towards the overall Scottish Golf Order of Merit, this year we’ll introduce our own mini Order of Merit specifically for the Race to The Machrie 2025, rewarding the best performers from the four events.

The Foundation events are due to take place in the early stage of the golf season –

30th May and 1st June  Paul Lawrie Foundation Jug ( Newmachar)

6th -8th June, Barrie Douglas Scottish Junior Masters (Strathmore GC)

17th – 19th June, Stephen Gallacher Foundation Trophy & Vase (Schloss Roxburghe GC)

The Machrie Hotel & Golf Links

Golf has been played at The Machrie since 1891. Designed by Willie Campbell and more recently modernised by course architect DJ Russell – former European Tour Winner & Ryder Cup Vice-Captain - The Machrie combines the very best of a traditional, historic links course from a previous age, with a modern Links. The need for thought, imagination and creative shot-making has not changed throughout the years and carries as much of a premium over sheer power now, as it did then.

Set in the dunes of Islay, Queen of the Hebrides, The Machrie Hotel & Golf Links enjoys an enviable location, nestled beside seven miles of pristine beach in the Inner Hebrides.

Opened in late Summer 2018 after a complete renovation and expansion, The Machrie Hotel now comprises 47 beautifully designed rooms, suites and lodges, some with their own outdoor terraces and stunning views across the Links.
The hotel offers visitors many places to meet and relax including 18, our impressive restaurant with panoramic views of the Links, as well as a Spa.

The dramatic setting of Laggan Bay has few equals and the ever-changing nature of the challenge offered by this acclaimed layout make it a Scottish links which has got to be played!
