Hello All

Congratulations on being selected for the County Seniors Squad for 2025.

As you are aware, we are striving to put everything in place to ensure we are winning in 2025. With that mind, I hope the information below will go a long way to give clarity on all that is happening and expected. Your selection in the squad is well deserved and gives me a great opportunity to help, communicate and monitor your play, as I look to put the strongest possible teams out for 2025.

Captains Working Group

As we try to make sure we set everything up in the best way possible, we have set up a working group of Myself, Martin Young, Dave Edmunds, Richard Arnold (County Secretary) & Chris Harrison (County Assistant Manager). We will coordinate everything and ensure the communication is much improved for all involved. Ongoing, any thoughts or constructive comments on how we can keep improving can come to any of us.  Your feedback will always be welcomed.

Seniors Portal – on Golf Genius

We now have set up a Seniors Portal on Golf Genius that will be a ‘one stop shop’ for all the information you need for events, dates etc. You will receive a separate email from Golf Genius, following this one, that will give you the access to the portal. Please check in ‘junk’ if you don’t see it…and let Richard know if you don’t receive it.

  • The full fixture list is under the ‘Calendar’ tab. This includes selected other/national events.
  • You can confirm your availability for matches/events on the home page through the information on the left of the page. The default attendance status is ‘not attending’, so please make sure you go in and confirm your availability.
  • There is a ‘communication’ page under the information Tab. We will include communication (such as this one) in that page, for your reference.
  • Message Board – This is an opportunity to share thoughts/pictures – please keep positive and respectful! We may well still use a Whatsapp group for the various matches/events once the team is finalised.
  • There is also the ability to add photos of events, which will be good, given we all to take photos.
  • The ongoing County Seniors Order of Merit scores will be shown on the portal too.

Code of Conduct

The Code of Conduct (already used by all other teams in the County set up) is on the portal. It is important we all understand the level of commitment and behaviour expected when we wear the Hampshire badge. Please make yourself familiar with this and by making yourselves available for matches/events on the portal, you are agreeing to adhere by the Code of Conduct.

Team Announcements

We appreciate there is a lot of events to play in but are expecting commitment to the County team. With that in mind, we will commit to confirming the team selected by given dates, roughly 4 weeks ahead, for two reasons 1) to allow those not selected to do other things & 2) to enable the chosen team time for extra practice rounds & preparation. The dates of selection are clearly posted on the portal (Calander). We will make sure all get the announcement of the squad, regardless of whether you are in the team or not.

Professional Image

Once again, for those selected to play, we will be getting kit from Adidas, to mirror the 1st Team. Balls and gloves will continue for matches. I am pleased to say we will also have County Golf Bags for the matches/main events. All goes towards showing we are the best County and provide the best environment for us all to be successful.

Preparation for matches/events

I am keen to make sure we have the best preparation we can for all the matches/events. This will include the ability for extra practice rounds, course information, well rested/hydrated etc. We will communicate more on this as we go. We will continue to make sure that players have their own room when travelling away – this was originally set up and the reason that mileage for expenses for these matches is 36p, not 45p.

Positive only!

This is essential and something that we can learn from the new structure in the 1st Team environment. We are all individuals and a team that wants to win. Negativity will only make that harder. Consequently, when we are a team, please keep the comments positive and supportive. Comments like ‘how bad the greens are’, ‘sand is poor’, ‘course rubbish’ etc…only act as negative influences in the group and won’t help our overall ambition to win. Let’s keep it positive.

Things to do asap

  • Please confirm you can access the Seniors Portal, via the second email.
  • Follow the instructions when prompted to register.
  • The Code of Conduct is on the portal. Please read and be clear of all that is expected. Then, by making yourselves available for matches/events on the portal, you are agreeing to adhere to the Code of Conduct. If you are not comfortable with any of the commitments expected, please do speak to me or Richard (County Secretary).
  • Set your availability for the events/matches. This can be done on the left-hand side of the Home Page.
  •

Hopefully all makes sense. Any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask
