IMPORTANT: Participants must first register in the MSGA TOURNAMENT DIRECTORY to play in any MSGA event. This is a one-time registration. If you have registered before, simply sign in when registering for the event.

Registration Opens: March 15th 9:00 am
Registration Closes: May 15th 11:00 pm
NEW: All players will be placed on PENDING registration through close of registration on May 15th at 11pm. On May 16th, all handicaps will be updated. The Men's State Amateur, Senior, and Super Senior fields will be filled by the players with the lowest Handicap Indexes. Payment will be finalized and players will receive a confirmation email at this time.
Exemptions: All past Men's Amateur, Senior, & Super Senior Champions. Champions must register prior to the close of registration.
Event registration fee is $250, which includes 3 rounds of tournament play, tee prize, tournament prize credit, lunch credit, and StrackaLine Yardage Book. Cart fee is $75 (1 seat, 3 days). Cart seats are not available for caddies or guests.
Cancellations will be subject to a $10 service charge. See full Refund Policy below.

Your entry will be confirmed by email. Unless you have an entry confirmation, you are not officially entered in the tournament. No entries will be accepted at the host facility. A list of confirmed players will be posted on the Player Information > Players page.
Eligibility
You must be a legal resident of Montana or currently enrolled as a full time college student in Montana. You must be a current member of the Montana State Golf Association. Contestants without an MSGA Member Number (GHIN®#) will not be accepted. To renew online, click here.
Your application will serve as your testament of Montana citizenship.
Entries are open to amateur male players.
Men's Amateur: Maximum Handicap Index® of 8.0. No age requirement.
Men's Senior Championship: Maximum Handicap Index® of 10.0. Must be at least 55 yrs old by 6/26/25.
Men's Super Senior Championship: Maximum Handicap Index® of 12.0. Must be at least 65 yrs old by 6/26/25.

Tournament Format
54 Hole Stroke Play. Men's Amateur: Players will be grouped and paired for two rounds based on handicap index. Following round two, all players will be placed in flights based upon scores.
Handicap revision cutoff is June 10th.
Yardage ranges by division: State Am 6800-6900 yds, Senior Am 6200-6400 yds, and Super Sr Am 6000-6200 yds.

State Amateur - 120; Senior Amateur - 24; Super Senior Amateur - 16
Tournaments within Men's State Amateur
Barnett Cup - 1 team of 2 players from the same golf club. 54 holes, lowest 18 holes of the two players from each round. Teams must be submitted to the MSGA prior to June 25th.
Schwartz Cup - Low Junior, 54 Holes
US Amateur Exemption
The winners of the Montana Men's Amateur Championship will receive entry to the 2025 US Amateur Championship, August 11-17, at The Olympic Club in San Francisco, CA.
Tee Times
Tee times will be emailed and posted to this page by June 20th.
Practice Round
Player is responsible for cost of practice round, cart, and range balls, available for a nominal fee. Please watch for player emails regarding final cost of practice round and available times for your practice round.
Tournament Check In
The MSGA will be on-site at Missoula CC for player check-in on June 25th, from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm. You may also check in prior to your Round 1 tee time.
Regulations, Personal Appearance
Distance measuring devices are permitted per USGA Local Rule (Decision 14-3/0.5). No metal or ceramic spikes permitted - soft spikes will be mandatory. Players are required to wear proper golf attire.
Rules of Competition
The USGA Rules of Golf will govern play. The MSGA Tournament Committee, whose decision will be final, will settle questions. The competition will be deemed closed when the winners’ awards have been presented. A complete Rules sheet will be posted and emailed to players the week before the tournament.
Caddies
Caddies are allowed. Caddies will be asked to wear a caddie bib during the round. Bibs will be provided at the first tee and must be returned following the round. Cart seats are not available for caddies.

Refund Policy
If you cancel your registration, or if your entry is rejected for not meeting the qualifications, you will be notified by email and a refund will be issued to your credit card, less a $10 service charge, if prior to June 9th. Cancellations made after this date, but prior to pairings being posted to this portal, are eligible for a 50% refund. Cancellations made after pairings are posted to this portal are not eligible for a refund.
