IMPORTANT:  Participants must first register in the MSGA TOURNAMENT DIRECTORY to play in any MSGA event.  This is a one-time registration.  If you have registered before, simply sign in when registering for the event.

Registration Opens:  May 1st 9:00 am

Registration Closes:  July 15th 11:00 pm

 

Event registration fee is $300, which includes 3 rounds of tournament play, cart, range balls (for tournament rounds), and dinner.  There is no additional fee to play in this event.  Practice rounds are NOT included.  Dinner tickets for guests will be available for purchase upon check-in.

 

Cancellations will be subject to a $10 service charge.  See full Refund Policy below.

Your entry will be confirmed by email.  Unless you have an entry confirmation, you are not officially entered in the tournament.  No entries will be accepted at the host facilities.  A list of confirmed players will be posted on the Player Information > Players page.

 

 

Eligibility

You must be a male amateur player, a current member of the Montana State Golf Association, a legal resident of Montana or an active golfer at an MSGA-member club, and at least 55 years old as of August 5th.  An active golfer is defined as: a) a member of a private golf club; b) a season pass holder or member of a public golf course; or c) a player who posts at least 10 rounds from a Montana course within the previous 12 months of application.  Contestants without an MSGA Member Number (GHIN®#) will not be accepted.  To renew online, click here.   

 

Your online application will serve as your testament of Montana citizenship and/or active status at an MSGA-member club.   

 

Entries are open to amateur male players.

 

A Handicap Index® is required.  The maximum Handicap Index® for this event is 36.0.

 

Freshman:  Must be between 55-62 yrs old by 8/5/25.

Sophomore:  Must be between 63-69 yrs old by 8/5/25.

Junior:  Must be between 70-77 yrs old by 8/5/25.

Senior:  Must be 78+ yrs old by 8/5/25

May 1st -     Registration opens.

 

July 15th -   Registration closes.  Last day to withdraw for fullest refund.

 

July 18th -   Round 1 pairings & course assignments will be posted and emailed to players.

 

August 4th - Player check-in will be open at Meadow Lark CC, 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm.

 

August 5th - Round 1 begins, shotgun start.

 

August 6th - Round 2 begins, shotgun start.  Dinner at Meadow Lark CC.

 

August 7th - Round 3 Begins, shotgun start.  Championship and flight prizes awarded.

Tournament Format

Stroke Play, 54-holes, shotgun start.  Players will be flighted by Handicap Index® and divided into three sections, which play one round at each course.  Top flight winners will receive flight prizes.

 

Handicap revision cutoff is July 16th. 

 

Tee yardage for Freshman and Sophomore divisions will be 6000-6200 yds, and Junior and Senior divisions will be 5600-5800 yds.

Note:  If a Division is filled, a waiting list will be formed.  You will be notified by email if you are moved off of the waitlist.  If you don't receive an email, check your spam folder or the confirmed players on the Player Information > Players page.

Senior Trophy - Lowest total gross score, ages 85-88.

Super Senior Trophy - Lowest total gross score, ages 89+

 

Pairings and Course Assignments

Pairings and Course Assignments for Round 1 will be emailed and posted to this page by July 18th.  Players are sorted by Handicap Index, then divided into 3 sections, with Section 1 being the lowest.  Flights are also kept together, not split between sections.

 

 

Practice Round

Player is responsible for cost of practice round, cart, and range balls.  

 

  • Meadow Lark CC
    • The practice round rate will be $60 walking and $80 with a cart seat. 
    • Players may email Director of Golf Scott Longenecker at slongenecker@meadowlarkclub.com beginning July 1st, for a tee time on Monday, August 4th, between 12pm and 4pm.  Pro shop staff will not be able to make tee times this far in advance.  
    • Practice round tee times will not be available prior to August 4th.

 

Tournament Check In
The MSGA will be on-site at Meadow Lark CC for player check-in on August 4th, from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm.  You may also check in prior to your Round 1 tee time, at your assigned course for Round 1.

 

No club storage will be provided.

 

Regulations, Personal Appearance
Distance measuring devices are permitted per USGA Local Rule (Decision 14-3/0.5).  No metal or ceramic spikes permitted - soft spikes will be mandatory.  Players are required to wear proper golf attire.

 

Rules of Competition
The USGA Rules of Golf will govern play.  The MSGA Tournament Committee, whose decision will be final, will settle questions.  The competition will be deemed closed when the winners’ awards have been presented.  A complete Rules sheet will be posted and emailed to players the week before the tournament.

 

Push Carts and Caddies
Push carts and caddies are allowed.  Caddies will be asked to wear a caddie bib during the round.  Bibs will be provided at the first tee and must be returned following the round.  Cart seats are not available for caddies.

Refund Policy
If you cancel your registration, or if your entry is rejected for not meeting the qualifications, you will be notified by email and a refund will be issued to your credit card, less a $10 service charge, if prior to the close of registration.  Cancellations made after the close of registration, but prior to pairings being posted to this portal, are eligible for a 50% refund.  Cancellations made after pairings are posted to this portal are not eligible for a refund.  Questions about credit card charges or refunds can be directed to support@msgagolf.org or 1-800-628-3752, ext 1.
