SIXTH ANNUAL Match Play Cup Championship
 

This is a Waterlefe Men’s Golf Association (WMGA) sponsored event, and open to all members of the Association.

This is a three (3) month long, NET event with four (4) rounds and the Championship Match.
 

TIME FRAME:
Qualifying Rounds: December 26, 2024-January 15, 2025
Round 1: January 16 thru February 13, 2025 (16 matches)
Round 2: February 14 thru February 28, 2025 (8 matches)
Round 3: March 1 thru March 15, 2025 (4 matches)
Round 4: March 16 thru March 31, 2025 (2 matches)
Championship Match April 1 thru April 15, 2025

PARTICIPATION:
1.    The entry fee for is $40.00 (Cash only)*
2.    Entry fee must be paid prior to playing qualifying round
3.    Qualifying rounds will be played from December 26, 2024-January 15, 2025 to determine the seeding for the matches.  Qualifying rounds can be played anytime but must be played with someone that verifies the score.  Net score for the qualifying round will be used to determine seeding.  One qualifying round is included in the entry fee and additional qualifying rounds if desired are $20.00 each.  Your lowest qualifying round will be used to determine seeding.  Ties for qualifying rounds will be drawn at random for seeding purposes.  If there is a tie for the last qualifying spot there will be a match of cards using USGA recommendations for breaking ties (Back nine total, last 6 holes, last 3 holes, last hole)
4.    Qualifying rounds will be posted on the event portal located on the WMGA page of the member website as they are completed. 
5.    The defending champion and runner up, Darren Plath and Mike Ferrier, runner up are automatically in the field and seeded 1&2 respectively.
6.    In the event that there are not 30** players will get a bye in the first round starting with the defending champion and runner up getting priority.  All additional byes will be based on seeding from qualifying rounds.
7.    The final four (4) players will receive a cash prize.
8.    Two (2) finalists will not be required to qualify for the event the next year.
9.    The Winner will also have his name on the Wall of Fame Plaque, as well as an individual trophy.
10.    Any issues with handicap accuracy will be grounds for disqualification from the tournament.  These include rounds not posted or inaccurate score postings just as examples.  Issues must be reported to the professional staff and WMGA Board for immediate review.  The WMGA Board will make the determination on the penalty for any such violations

*ENTRY FEE $40.00 (Cash only). Entry fees will be used for a trophy for the winner.  The remainder of the Prize pool will be allocated as follows     
      50% Winner
      30% Runner-up
      10% each for losing participants in round four (4)

GENERAL RULES:
1.Tournament will be governed by USGA rules and Local Club Established rules.
2. All participants will play the tee on which they established their current USGA Handicap.
3. If any match is not played for any reason, within the designated time period, that match will be considered a double forfeiture and neither player will move on.
4. Player handicaps will be calculated the day of their match.  Scorecards will be prepared by the Pro Shop the day of play.  Please let the Pro Shop know you are playing your match when scheduling your tee time.
