General & Membership
1. Who can join JGL?
JGL is open to amateur junior golfers in Grades 3–12 who wish to develop their skills through structured tournament competition.
Players below Grade 3 may also be eligible to participate. Applications for players in Grades 2 and below require a completed Cross-Division Participation Waiver and a Player Evaluation & Recommendation Form signed by the player's coach for review and approval by JGL.
2. Does my child need prior tournament experience to join?
No. Prior tournament experience is not required.
However, players should have experience playing on a golf course over 9 or 18 holes and be able to keep their own score while demonstrating a basic understanding of golf etiquette and the Rules of Golf.
3. Can players join JGL at any time during the season?
Yes. Players may apply for membership at any time during the membership year, subject to membership availability and eligibility requirements.
4. How do I become a JGL member?
Complete the online membership application, submit the required documents, and pay the membership fee. Once approved, you will receive membership confirmation and access to tournament registration.

5. What is included in a JGL membership?
JGL membership offers more than tournament participation. Members gain access to official JGL events, annual rankings, international development opportunities, educational seminars, and exclusive member activities.
Additional benefits may include member gifts, partner offers, special events, and resources designed to support each player's long-term development both on and off the golf course.
6. What is the membership period?
The JGL membership year runs from September 1 through August 31 of the following year.
7. Is participation in every tournament required?
No. Members may choose which tournaments to enter based on their schedule, goals, and availability.
8. I am registering more than one child. Do I need a separate email address for each player?
No. Parents may use a single email account when registering multiple players in Golf Genius by adding a "+" identifier to the email address for each child.
For example, if the parent's email is parent@email.com, one child may use parent@email.com and another may use parent+player2@email.com. Although Golf Genius treats them as separate accounts, all communications will still be delivered to the same inbox.
Events & Competition
1. What is the difference between Division II and Division I?
Division II is open to all eligible JGL members and serves as the starting point for earning ranking points and gaining competitive experience.
Division I is designed for qualified players who have achieved the required ranking standard. It offers a higher level of competition and additional championship opportunities.
2. How do I register for a tournament?
Tournament registration is completed through Golf Genius during the designated registration period. Players must submit their registration and complete payment within three days of registering. Only fully completed registrations will be considered for entry confirmation.
3. When is my tournament entry confirmed?
An entry is confirmed only after both registration and payment have been received and verified by JGL. A confirmation will be sent once the entry is approved.
4. How are ranking points calculated?
Ranking points are awarded based on a player's finishing position within their division. The number of participants and event structure may affect the distribution of points.
5. How are annual division rankings determined?
Annual division rankings are based on points earned throughout the season in eligible JGL events. Rankings are updated regularly and published through official JGL channels, including Golf Genius and the JGL website.
6. Why can players with similar scores receive different ranking points?
Ranking points are awarded based on finishing position within a specific event and division, not solely on score. Event participation levels and field size may result in different point allocations.
7. How are players grouped by age division?
Players are assigned to age divisions based on their school grade level.
8. How do players advance from Division II to Division I?
Players accumulate JGL Points throughout the season by participating in JGL tournaments.
Eligibility for the DI All-Star Series is determined based on the JGL Points Ranking at the time of registration, with at least 80 players guaranteed eligibility to register. The number of guaranteed spots allocated to each division will be determined based on the total number of members, the proportion of members in each division, and overall tournament capacity.
If the guaranteed spots are not fully filled, additional players may be invited from the waitlist in ranking order. Please refer to the chart below for the detailed process. The official DI eligibility list and waitlist range for each event will be subject to the event announcement and registration system.
9. Do rankings reset at the beginning of each new season?
No. To encourage consistent participation and long-term player development, JGL uses a Carry-over Policy. At the start of each season, players receive a starting points allocation based on their ranking from the previous season.
The carry-over points awarded each season are determined by JGL and published as part of the official ranking and points regulations.
10. How do players qualify for the Taiwan Junior Open (TJO) and international events?
Eligibility requirements vary by event. For details, please refer to Sections 4.2 and 4.3 of the 2026–2027 Competition Format & Regulations.

11. Can parents watch tournaments?
Yes. Spectator access is available at most JGL events, subject to host venue regulations and tournament policies.
12. Can parents coach or assist players during a round?
Verbal and emotional support is permitted. However, to ensure fair competition and compliance with the Rules of Golf, no advice, instruction, or other form of assistance related to making a stroke may be provided during the competition.
13. What happens if a player withdraws from an event?
Withdrawal requests must be submitted to JGL via email to info@jgl.tw as soon as possible. The date the email received by JGL will be regarded as the official withdrawal date. Refund eligibility and administrative fees are subject to the tournament's published withdrawal policy.
14. What happens if a tournament is suspended due to weather?
JGL will follow established competition procedures and venue safety guidelines. Any schedule changes, suspensions, or modifications will be communicated through official channels.
15. Where can I find pairings, results, and rankings?
Pairings, live scoring, tournament results, and division rankings are available through Golf Genius and the JGL website.
16. What are Team Rankings and how are they calculated?
Team Rankings are based on the combined performances of eligible players representing the same school, academy, or team throughout the season. Team standings are determined by points earned in designated JGL events and are updated regularly during the season.
17. Can players earn both individual and team points?
Yes. Eligible performances may contribute to both individual division rankings and team standings, depending on the competition format and applicable regulations.
