CONDITIONS OF THE COMPETITION

Eligibility: For the RGA Senior Championship , an entrant must be a male member of an RGA or VSGA member club or a VSGA e-club and must be at least 50 years of age on the first day of the tournament. ONLY THE SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP IS A VSGA POINTS EVENT.  A Super Senior must be at least 65 years of age on the first day of the tournament and a Masters entrant must be at least 70 years of age on the first day of the tournament. All participants must have a VSGA handicap index established at an appropriate member club or VSGA e-club and meet the USGA Rules of Amateur status.

Format: The format of this competition will be 36 holes of stroke play, as outlined in Rule 3 of the Rules of Golf. The champion in each classification shall be the player returning the lowest gross score for 36 holes of stroke play. Play for each classification will be from separate tees and entrants may compete in only one division.

Clubs and Balls: Any driver the player uses must have a clubhead that is named on the current list of Conforming Driver Heads issued by the USGA. The ball the player plays must be named on the current List of Conforming Golf Balls issued by the USGA.

Field Size: The total field size for all divisions will be limited to 80 players. Half of the berths in each division will be awarded based on receipt date of the application. The other half of the berths in each division will be awarded based on lowest handicap index. Based on field size, the field in each division may be divided into multiple flights based on first day scores.

Entry Fee: The entry fee for members and non-RGA members is $250.  Entry fee includes cart fee and range balls, all prizes, and a limited reception for all players following the end of play. The entry fee for any player entering after July 3, 2025, will include an extra $25 for late entry. Approval for late entries must be obtained from the tournament directors, Greg Bales & Paras Pandya prior to acceptance into the field.

Entries: Players must register online at richmondga.golfgenius.com.

Deadline: Entry forms must be received no later than July 3rd, 2025. No refund of entry fee will be allowed after July 4th, 2025. Any RGA champion having won within the previous five years who otherwise meets the eligibility requirements will be guaranteed a place in the field if his application is received by the entry deadline.

Ties: If there is a tie for the champion of any classification, the tie will be decided by a hole-by-hole playoff beginning at the hole specified by the tournament committee. The playoff will begin 5-10 minutes after the completion of play. A match of cards will decide all other ties. The winner when matching cards will first be determined by the best score for holes 10-18, second on the basis of holes 13-18, third on the basis of holes 16-18, fourth on the basis of the 18th hole, fifth on the basis of the first handicap hole, sixth on the basis of the second handicap hole, and so on until a winner is decided.

Prizes: Including the award for the overall champion, prizes will be awarded to at least 30% of the participants. All prizes will be in the form of gift certificates redeemable at the host club.

Dress Code: All competitors in this event must adhere to the dress code and other rules and regulations of the host club and must wear proper golf attire at all times.

Schedule:  One practice round is available for all entrants at the discretion of the host club if the entrant’s application has been received at the time of the practice round request. The club should be called directly to request and schedule a practice round. The club determines the cost of the practice round.   Each of the tournament rounds will be based on tee times starting at 8am each day.
