It was a test of skill, and physical and mental toughness on a testing course in 33-degree heat at Wharton Park Golf Club with the finalists completing 54 holes over the 2 days.
The finalists were challenged by not only the heat but by the conditions, and a strategy to deal with the extra distance being gained from the fast-running fairways being key to setting up shots into excellent greens.
It was second seed Phil Dyke of Bromsgrove Golf Centre who mastered the conditions in his match against fourth seed Darren Henn of Churchill & Blakedown to win 3&2.
Our thanks to all at Wharton Park for their welcome and support and to the volunteers who helped over the two days.
