MAX PICKUP OPTION AND SCORING RULES
CommonGround pace of play for 18 holes is 4 hours, 30 minutes.
To support effective pace of play on league days, the CGWGC Board and CG ProShop recommend that you pick up at Par+5
When you pick up before putting out:
- Put an "X" on your scorecard and in Golf Genius for any pick-up hole(s).
-
Your round will not be DQ’d from the Ringer tournament.
-
If the hole(s) is counted for the Game of Day, you will not be eligible to win money for that day.
-
For pick-up holes, the hole score(s) posted to GHIN will be the USGA/GHIN maximum of "net double bogey" (Net Double Bogey = Par + 2 +handicap strokes "pops" received for the hole)
This procedure will not apply for the Club Championship (CC) since all players must hole out on every hole on both championship days to qualify for winnings. If you pick up in the CC, you will be DQ'd and your CC round(s) will be DQ’d from the Ringer tournament.
When you do not play a hole:
Leave the holes(s) you haven't played blank, or draw a line through the un-played holes (example of an un-played hole: if you leave the course before the end of your round.) When you do not play every hole in a league-day round, Golf Genius will post the round as DNF (did not finish). However, if you’ve played a minimum of 9 holes, your score will still be posted to GHIN**, per WHS Handicap Rules.
**For holes not played, GHIN calculates the lower of “Net Double Bogey” or “Expected Score”. This (these) value(s) will be used to calculate your differential for the round, incorporating the unplayed holes.
(*) The CGWGC Board and CG Pro Shop will actively monitor pace of play during the 2025 league season. If deemed necessary due to Pace of Play issues, the Pro Shop and CGWGC Board reserve the right to amend the above policy to a mandatory pick up at Par +5*. Ample notification will be sent to all league members via email and text.
Handicap Indexes
The World Handicap System (WHS) enables golfers of different abilities to play and compete on an equitable basis, no matter how or where they play. The Handicap Index is a numerical calculation of a golfer's demonstrated ability.
CGEWGC Membership requires an established Handicap Index, which is tracked through the USGA Golf Handicap Information Network (GHIN) digital system, using your GHIN #. If you do not already have a GHIN #, we will create one for you during our CGWGC registration process. Also, we will provide instructions to finalize setup of your handicap in the GHIN system.
Any new member without a Handicap Index must play and post a minimum of 54 holes consisting of (6) complete 9-hole rounds, (3) complete 18 hole rounds, or a combination of these, to establish a Handicap Index. Once you have an established Handicap, you are eligible to win weekly CGWGC tournament payouts.
The maximum handicap is 54 to join our league. For purposes of tournament play day calculations, members with a Handicap Index between 43 and 54 will be assigned a maximum adjusted handicap of 42.0.
