HANDICAP INDEX: All players must have a USGA Handicap Index of 25.4 or lower at the time of registration.
PRACTICE ROUND: Please contact the golf shop at (231) 591-3765 to book a practice round. Contestants must call in advance to reserve a tee time and identify themselves as Michigan Junior State Amateur contestants. Rates and availability are at the discretion of the host facility.
GPS AND RANGE FINDERS: In this competition, if a player uses a distance-measuring device that is designed to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his/her play, AND USES IT FOR THOSE OTHER CONDITIONS, the player is in breach of Rule 4.3, for which the penalty is the GENERAL PENALTY for the first breach of this rule and DISQUALIFICATION for a subsequent breach during the round.
CADDIES/CARTS: No caddies are allowed during any phase of the Championship. All players are required to walk. Contestants may carry their own bag. Push carts will be allowed for the championship. Spectator carts are not permitted.
FOOD: Lunch will be provided for players on one of the first two days of the tournament. Additional food and snacks will be available for purchase at the grill area.
CADDIES/CARTS: All players are required to walk. Contestants must carry their own bag, caddies are not permitted. Push carts may be used. Spectator carts are only allowed if a request, accompanied by a doctor’s note confirming the spectator’s need for a cart, is sent to the GAM at least two days before the tournament. Notes should be sent to tournaments@gam.org.
PRACTICE RANGE: Complimentary for players before play on the days of the competition. The range will be open 1 hour before the first tee time of each day.
PLAYOFF: In case of ties, there will be a hole-by-hole playoff immediately following play for the final match play spot(s). The low 16 players in the Overall Division and the low 8 players in the 15 & Under Division advance to Match Play.
Note: If a player qualifies and cannot compete in the Match Play Championship, she must notify the Committee immediately so that the next eligible player may be included.
MATCH PLAY: A general numerical USGA draw shall be used. The round shall be extended to as many holes as required for a match to be won.
WITHDRAWAL: If you must withdraw before the entry deadline, please withdraw through the Golf Genius event portal. If you must withdraw after the entry deadline, please contact tournaments@gam.org. Please review the GAM Withdrawal/Refund Policy.

The Golf Association of Michigan Foundation offers need-based financial grants to select junior golfers participating in GAM Championships. Grants are awarded through an application process that considers family financial needs and other factors contributing to funding gaps for competitive golf-related expenses.
