Qualify via events throughout the year
The Ping Welsh Junior Tour Final
The winners of each category at each regional event will automatically qualify for the end of season Tour Final. In the case of a joint leaderboard, at any one regional event, the highest placed girl and boy, irrespective of place on the overall leaderboard will be invited.
Winners of the gross prizes in the Under 18s will also be invited to the Final, if they are not already invited from the Order of Merit.
20 golfers (plus ties) in each age category will be invited to participate in the Final. The number of each gender invited will be determined based on the proportion of boys and girls that have entered into each category. This will be determined once all the regional qualifiers have occurred. For example, if 50 boys and 20 girls were to enter in one age category, 14 boys and 6 girls would be invited to the final so that the field is representative of entry numbers.
The exception to this is the same as the regional events. If there are fewer then 5 of either gender in one particular category invited, they will play as a mixed field.
The Final itself will follow the same format as the regional events.
Parents And Guardians
As there will be a lot of very young players at these events it is a condition of entry that each player must be accompanied by a parent/guardian whilst they are at a Ping Welsh Junior Tour event to be responsible for their well-being.
The role of the parent/guardian at the event will vary depending upon the category their player is playing in;
In the U14 categories parents/guardians are welcome to watch but must keep a reasonable distance away from play. They may ball spot or help in searching for a ball but other than that must not communicate with the player.
In the U8, U10 & U12 categories as well as keeping score the parent/guardian may assist their player by pulling a trolley or carrying a bag.
Parents/Guardians must not give golf specific advice.
