⛳ Golf Course Etiquette & Pace of Play (Pace of Play pdf)
At our course, good etiquette means playing efficiently and being aware of those around you. A foursome should aim to complete 9 holes in 2 hours and 20 minutes or less.
Your group should stay within one shot of the group ahead.
We’re not asking you to rush—just to keep pace, play smart, and be courteous to others on the course. Please pick up your ball after 10 strokes to help keep the round enjoyable for all players.
🚨 Remember:
Paying greens fees does not entitle anyone to delay others. Everyone deserves a smooth and fun round. Let’s all do our part.
🔄 Tips to Keep Up the Pace
-
Play “Ready Golf.”
If the player farthest away isn’t ready, and it’s safe, go ahead and hit. On the green? Putt out if you’re close instead of marking.
-
Plan Ahead.
Think about your next shot while approaching your ball. Know your club and target.
-
Stay Alert.
Be aware of when it’s your turn and be ready to play.
-
Keep Up with the Group in Front.
You should always be able to see them.
-
Help Each Other.
Watch your group’s shots and ball flight. Spend no more than 2 minutes looking for a lost ball.
-
Pick Up After 10 Strokes.
Mark a score of 10 with "PU" in the putt section.
-
Limit Practice Swings.
You have 40 seconds max to hit your shot, per Rule 6-7.
-
Position Carts Smartly.
Always park carts facing the next shot or tee box. Avoid walking back.
-
Use Cart Strategy.
Drop one player at her ball while the other drives ahead. Bring multiple clubs if you’re unsure which one you’ll need.
If you have physical limitations, please get a special priveleges flag for your cart from the pro shop: This flag indicates that the golfer has been granted special privileges due to extreme physical limitations, allowing them to leave the cart path and park adjacent to Tee Boxes or drive close to greens.
-
Save Social Time.
Chat between holes or after the round—not during play.
-
Record Scores at the Next Tee Box.
Don’t hold up the group on the green.
-
Be Open to Feedback.
If someone suggests picking up the pace, take it kindly and adjust.
