Welcome to the THE EPIC 2025

Thank you for taking part in The Epic 2025. If you are new to this event it does take some explanation, if you've played before please use this email as a reminder. You are receiving this because you are the captain of the team, please forward this on to your teammate.

Arrival

When you arrive, check in with the bag drop folks and they will tell you where to find your golf cart. Your cart will have your scorecards, golf shop vouchers, and lunch vouchers.

Please be ready to go out to your hole By 8:45AM.

The on course lunch voucher will get you a hot dog, bag of chips, and pop at the canteen on Brudenell or Dundarave. You will pass by the canteen 3 times on Brudenell, after holes 2, 7, and 12; and twice on Dundarave after holes 6 and 10.

Shotgun

There is one shotgun start for the event this year, at 9:00 we will be starting everyone on both courses. The link to the draw can be found on the event website.

Formats

The Epic is a 36 continuous hole, four format, two person team event, there is no break at any time during the event; when you finish hole #18 on one course you go immediately to the first hole of the other course. For example, if you start on hole #16 at Dundarave you play 16,17, and 18 and then go right to Brudenell #1 and continue.

You will be notified of each format change by the GPS screen on your cart. Here are the four formats and a brief explanation of each:

Brudenell Holes 1-9 Best Ball: Each partner will play the entire hole with their own ball and record the lowest score on that hole. For example, Player A has a 3 and Player B has a 4, the 3 will be recorded as the team score on the card.

Brudenell Holes 10-18 Alternate Shot: On hole #10 you and your partner will decide who will tee off on the even holes and who will tee off on the odd holes. The person teeing off on the even holes will hit their tee shot on hole #10 and then their partner will hit the next shot; you alternate until the ball is holed out. On hole 11 the partner that you decided to tee off on the odd holes will tee off and you alternate until the ball is holed. In this format there is always only one ball in play per team. If a ball is hit in a penalty area or into the woods, your partner will play the next shot from the place the original was played.

Dundarave Holes 1-9 Chapman: This format is a mix of scramble and alternate shot. I'd try to explain it but this video will make more sense. CHAPMAN FORMAT

Dundarave Holes 10-18 Scramble: This is the format most will be familiar with. Both players will hit their tee shot, go to the ball they feel is in the best position and both play from there. The team will continue playing their ball from the best position until the ball is holed. There are no minimum number of drives required by a team member.

Rules

  • In all formats preferred lies will be used. The ball can be cleaned and placed anywhere on the course one club length from the original position. The ball cannot be moved from one cut to another, meaning you can't place the ball from an original rough lie to a fairway lie or from fringe to green. On the green the ball cannot be moved a club length, you must play each putt from as close to the original position as possible.

  • If you choose a ball to play that is in a bunker on DUNDARAVE use the Ground Under Repair rule and take relief. Bunkers are only ground under repair on DUNDARAVE.

  • Greens on both courses have been aerated so we will use the two putt max rule. When you're on the green attempt your first putt, if you are unsuccessful in making a one putt add one to your score and move on to the next hole.

Prizes/Skins

There is only one division in the event. A prize for low score will be awarded for each of the formats and we pay out prizes to the top three teams for the overall low score. Men will play from the white tees and ladies will play from the red tees on both courses.

Skins are awarded to the lowest score on a hole, if there is one skin out the team with the lowest score receives all the money, if there are two skins out the money is halved and so on. If no skins are out we will draw one team name out of a hat and the winners will receive the entire pot. We are not accepting late registration for skins this year, if you did not pre-register when you signed up unfortunately you are out.

Scoring

There will be four separate score cards on your cart, staff will be around during play to collect completed cards to help speed up the scoring process.

We anticipate The Epic 2025 to take between 8-9 hours to finish. Please keep that in mind when you are on the course. Play ready golf, keep up to the group in front of you, bow out of a hole in the best ball format if you are playing your 10th shot and your partner is playing their 3rd, and do not stop after either 18th hole for any length of time. Be considerate of the other groups on the course, we want this to be a successful event that everyone enjoys.

Personal alcohol is not permitted on the course. Our staff will ask anyone that they see with a cooler to place it back in their vehicle or we will hold on to it until you're finished.

If you have a question now is the time to ask; please reply to this email or during the event call our toll free number 1-800-235-8909 and they will direct you to the golf shop.

The website will have the draw, a player list, scoring, pics, and all info you need regarding the event. We will post the results on this website, prizes will be mailed out and skin money will be e transferred. When looking at the website page with the draw there will be four rounds in the drop down menu at the top left, look for the round with your team name, 9:00 shotgun, and starting hole.

Enjoy the day, play well, and dress for the weather. It's going to be Epic.
