2025 NEW Business League Rules of Play
Start Time: The league will start at 5:30 PM every week. The first week of league this year is Tuesday April 29th.
Format: Two Person Scramble using Match Play Format
Each team will consist of four players. The captain of each team will form (2) Two player teams. After the two teams are formed they will compete against another team’s two teams. PLAYING IN 8-SOMES!
Example: Hole 1 will have 2 teams (Total of 8 Players); two players from each team will be decided to play in the A Match and two players from each team will be decided to play in the B match. Each pairing will have two separate matches going at once.
Live Scoring: Will be mandatory this year on Golf Genius. You only need 1 person from each group to do live scoring. (1 of the 8 players to score both matches). Live scoring instructions are on the Business League Portal. Each round’s GGID will be posted on your scorecards. FAILURE TO DO LIVE SCORING WILL RESULT IN ZERO POINTS FOR BOTH TEAMS FOR BOTH MATCHES. YOUR SCORES MUST BE CHECKED BY BOTH TEAMS AND PUT IN CORRECLTY BY THE END OF THE ROUND. Golf Genius will do the point scoring automatically. If no scores are entered no points are awarded. You are responsible for entering your hole by hole scores. Your scorecard will be used to reference your online scores for any scoring disputes.
NEW Scoring: Match play is the new format in 2025! Each hole will be worth 1 point. The maximum amount of points that can be won in a match is 9 points. Tying a hole is worth 0 points. If both of your teams win every hole for the night you win the max score of 18 points – as an example.
If for some reason there is a team playing against a no show, the most amount of points that will be awarded is 6 points (2/3 of the match).
SECOND SESSION SEEDING IS TO BE DETERMINED OFF SCORING AVERAGE FROM THE FIRST SESSION. IT IS AT JAY'S DISCRETION TO CHANGE SCORES OF MATCHES IF SCORES ARE BEING INFLATED. THERE ARE TIMES YOU WILL NOT FINISH A HOLE SO THE MOST PROBABLE SCORE SHOULD BE WROTE DOWN. IF YOU ARE UNCERTAIN WHAT TO WRITE THE BEST COURSE OF ACTION IS TO WRITE A SCORE THAT IS 1 SHOT HIGHER THAN WHAT YOUR OPPONENT MADE. INFLATING SCORES FOR SEEDING PURPOSES WILL NOT BE TOLERATED AND THERE WILL BE NO WARNING - YOU WILL NOT BE ASKED TO PLAY IN LEAGUE NEXT YEAR.
Check-In: If you have players that don’t check in and play a match, your team will forfeit the match automatically. It is REQUIRED that your entire team checks in every week. If you do not have a pass you are required to pay green fee’s and cart fee’s weekly. The league pass covers your 9-Hole green fee and cart fee. If you show up before 4:30 PM to play you will need to pay the additional $10.00 difference to cover the cost of an 18-Hole round.
Tees: All men 59 and younger will play from the white tees. All men 60 and older may play from the gold tees. All ladies will play from the red tees.
Pace of Play: The time par for this league is 2.5 hours. With the new format there are 18 groups on the course. If a group is waiting on you then you are behind! You will be scored by # of holes completed if you don’t finish by dark.
If you are out of winning a hole, pick up and move on!!
Substitutes: Since there is no handicap requirement, anyone can play in this league regardless of what division you play in. Players must be out of high school to participate in league. Reminder, the purpose of Business League is to network, socialize, and have fun. If it nears the end of the season and you bring in players not of the same skill level as your normal players who have not played very much, you may be subject to lose any points earned. This will be at Jay’s discretion only and any decision to take points away will be final.
The Ball: You are allowed to play the ball up within a scorecard length. You are not allowed to change the type of lie (rough to fairway). All native grass is played as a penalty area. You may still play the ball up in penalty area’s or you may take a drop where the ball crossed for a one-shot penalty.
No Show: For Business League a no show is classified as a team having 50% or less of their players show up. If all 4 players no show this will count as 2 no shows! Only having 2 players show up counts as 1 no show. Having 3 players show up is not a no show. If you have 3 no shows on the year you will not be invited back to play next year. This league is in high demand and it is not fair to other teams if a match cannot be played each week.
