The 2025 Match Play Championship

 

 

Equity Requirement: Must have two (2) events (home and/or away) played from April 2024 to April 1, 2025

 

Schedule

Players must meet each round’s scheduled dates.  This is a competition that extends over five months, therefore date extensions for any round will not be granted.  Players are responsible for arranging each match with their opponent within each round's timeframe.  If players cannot agree on a date and time, the Committee will assign a final starting time and date.  Failure to meet the schedule listed below, or the Committee's scheduling, will result in a player’s forfeit of a match.

 

Round 1: April 24 through May 18

Round 2: May 22 through June 8

Round 3: June 12 through June 29

Round 4: July 3 through July 20

Round 5: July 24 through August 10 (Quarter-finals)

Round 6: August 14 through August 31 (Semi-finals)

Round 7: September 4 through September 21 (Championship and Consolation Matches)

 

Fees 

-Registration Fee of $46 (Prize Fund & Admin Fee)

ELIGIBILITY

The Match Play Championship requires each participant to meet our requirement regarding tournament equity ~ 2 Events Played, home or away, in the preceding 12 months (now April 1, 2024 - April 1, 2025).  Questions on equity should be directed to the Committee, or check the Player Tracker on our home page ermgc.golfgenius.com  'News' tab.

 

 

Handicapping

A Handicap Report will be prepared for each round based on Club handicapping policies.  The Club will post each player’s score as a “Tournament” score.

 

Flights

The tournament’s brackets will consist of eight flights within two groups; Flights 1-4 will be in Group A and Flights 5-8 will be in Group B.  Flights will be of equal size and determined based on the LESSER of each player’s GHIN index as of the April 1st or their "tournament index" per our by-laws.  Players will play within their flight through Round 5 before inter-flight play (Round 6 – Group Winner).  The winner of each group will compete in the Championship match.

 

Flight & 1st Round Creation

The Committee will build 8 flights and conduct a blind draw to determine first round matches.  Round 1 byes will apply if the field has fewer than 128 players.  Director will notify field, publish matches and provide contact information in order to reach your opponent.

 

Refunds for this event:  full minus $6 handling charge if done on or before April 2, 2025 8:00 AM; then no refund.
