ENTRY FEE: $100

REFUND POLICY: Entry fee will be refunded regardless of reason if LGA office is notified, in writing, before the close of entries. After the close of entries, fee will be refunded only in the event of injury or illness provided notification (accompanied by a doctor’s statement) reaches LGA office by July 9, 2019. A $20 service charge will be deducted from all refunds.


Championship conducted to determine the top male & female Junior amateurs in Louisiana for 2019. Overall Championship will be conducted over 54 holes and is open to any junior age 12-18 wishing to compete for the Junior Amateur Championship. Age-Group Championships are also available for those wishing to compete only against juniors their own age and will be conducted over 36 holes. 

Eligibility:  
Entries are open to any, Louisiana resident (as of at least 90 days prior to the Championship) who is an amateur golfer (as defined by the USGA) and is a member of a LGA Member Club in good standing (2019 club and individual dues must be paid). Entrants must be 10 years of age by midnight, July 10, 2019, and cannot have reached their 19th birthday by midnight, July 12, 2019. Non-amateurs are not eligible. Entries are subject to rejection at any time (including during the championship) by the LGA. Reasons for rejection may include unbecoming conduct. 

Field/Format of Play: Limited to the first 156 entries. Participants must choose to enter either the appropriate Age-Group Championship (36 holes tournament play/July 10-11) OR the Overall Championship (54 holes tournament play/July 10-12). Groupings for Age-Group Championships will be as follows: Boys: 10-11, 12-13, & 14-15.  Some Age-Groups will play from forward tees. Participant must declare his/her participation in the division which they intend to compete during registration.


Dress Code, Cell Phones: Competitors must be neat in appearance and wear appropriate attire. No gym shorts, cutoffs, blue jeans, tee shirts, etc. Shorts must be Bermuda length. Use of cell phones, including those used as Electronic Measuring Devices, is prohibited on the course during the competition (The Committee reserves the right to disqualify a competitor for a breach of the policy regarding cell phone usage; See USGA Rules of Golf Decision 33-7/8). Important Note: Bayou Oaks is a spikeless facility and all competitors will be required to wear spikeless shoes. 

 

CaddiesCompetitors will not be permitted to use caddies. All participants will carry their own clubs.  Pull carts will be permitted.


Practice Privileges: Practice privileges are extended to participants in the Championship at Bayou Oaks at City Park on July 9.

Rules Meeting & Hamburger Cookout July 9th at 7:00 PM at Bayou Oaks at City Park. Participants and parents are strongly encouraged to attend (meal provided for participants only). 

Prizes: 
Prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers in the Age-Group Championships (36 holes). The Overall Championship will be divided into a minimum of two flights and top three finishers in each flight will receive prizes (54 holes). The Junior Amateur Champion is also extended an invitation to participate in the 2019 Junior River Cup.  The Champion will also receive a $400 gift certificate redeemable at the Bayou Oaks at City Park Golf Shop and a Titleist golf bag embroidered with "2019 LGA Junior Amateur Champion."

WAGR: As part of their expanding relationship to govern the game globally, the USGA partners with the R&A in compiling and publishing the World Amateur Golf Rankings (WAGR). This LGA Championship is a WAGR counting event, and the results will be sent to the R&A in St Andrews, Scotland. A primary purpose of the WAGR is to provide exemptions into USGA and R&A amateur championships for top ranked amateur golfers. The rankings are updated every Wednesday at 12:00 noon, Greenwich Mean Time. Additional information about the WAGR and the current rankings may be found at www.wagr.com. 

Rules of Golf: Play will be governed by the current USGA Rules of Golf and LGA Rules of Play Card. All questions will be settled by the LGA Rules Committee, whose decision will be final. Automotive transportation (carts) and/or caddies will not be permitted.
