PENALTY AREAS: Identified by Yellow Stakes

LATERAL PENALTY AREAS:  Identified by Red Stakes

GROUND UNDER REPAIR:  Encircled by white painted lines

OUT OF BOUNDS: Identified by white stakes. The boundary is defined by the inside edge of white stakes, at ground level.

SPECIAL NOTES: Hole #16 - During play of the 16th hole, the white stakes left of the fairway shall be defined as immovable obstructions.  Players may take relief for interference with stance, lie, or area of intended swing.  Players may not take relief for “line of sight” interference.

Stones in Bunkers – Stones in bunkers are movable obstructions (Rule 24-1 applies)

DOUBT AS TO PROCEDURE: If a competitor is doubtful of his rights or the correct procedure during the play of a hole, he may, without penalty, complete play of the hole with two balls.  The player must announce his intention to his fellow competitors and explain which of the balls he wishes to count if the Rules permit.

The competitor MUST report the facts of the situation to the Committee before turning in his score card.  IF HE FAILS TO DO SO HE IS DISQUALIFIED.

EMBEDDED BALL: Through the green, a ball that is embedded in its own pitch mark may be lifted, without penalty, cleaned and dropped as near as possible to where it lay but not closer to the hole.  The ball when dropped must first strike a part of the course through the green.

ALTERNATIVE TO STROKE & DISTANCE:

When a player's ball has not been found or is known or virtually certain to be out of bounds, the player may proceed as follows rather than proceeding under stroke and distance. For two penalty strokes, the player may take relief by dropping the original ball or another ball in a large area between the point where the ball is estimated to have come to rest or gone out of bounds and the edge of the fairway of the hole being played that is not nearer the hole.
