Rules and Competitor Information

 

Play is governed by the 2023 Golf Canada Rules of Golf.

Competition

  • Each player will play their own ball and record their gross score for each hole.
  • If a player reaches double par on a hole, they can pick up their ball, record double par on their scorecard and proceed to play the next hole with the group.
  • This competition will be contested over 18 holes using net Stableford, best ball scoring.  The player’s handicap index as of the start of the day, September 14, 2025, will be used for this competition.  Note: Do not worry too much about this detail, you record your gross score we will figure out the rest!

 

Net Stableford Scoring (For your information only)

  • Double Bogey + – 0 points
  • Bogey – 1 point
  • Par – 2 points
  • Birdie – 3 points
  • Eagle – 4 points
  • Albatross – 5 points

 

Arrival

  • Register upon arrival.
  • Competitors must report to the first tee a minimum of 10 minutes prior to their scheduled tee time.

 

Tees

  • Everyone | RED Tees

 

Ties

  • In case of a tie, retrogression will decide placing using USGA (9,6,3,1).

 

Dress Code

  • Golf attire dress code will be in effect.

 

Range Balls

  • Complimentary range balls will be provided.

 

Golf Carts

  • There will be a maximum of 2 carts per group, cart was included in the registration price.

 

Practice Area

  • Range balls are complimentary and will be on the range.

 

Red Penalty Areas (Rule 17.1 Options for Ball in Penalty Area) - Three options are: stroke and distance, back on the line relief or lateral relief.

 

Yellow Penalty Areas (Rule 17.1 Options for Ball in Penalty Area) - Two options are: stroke and distance or back on the line relief.

 

Out of Bounds: (Rules 18.2 & 18.3) - Stroke and distance penalty.

 

Ground Under Repair

  • If there is a questionable area, please decide within your group if free relief as per rule 16.1.

  • Call (902)807-9294 for an official ruling if a decision cannot be made within the group.

 

Cart Path

  • Bare ground adjacent to cart paths will be considered an extension of cart path for free relief as per rule 16.1.

 

R&A App

It is suggested that you download the app: Rules of Golf 2023 (R&A). This could help you quickly look up a ruling during play.

 

Spectators and Social Media

  • Spectators will be permitted.
  • PEI Golf Association Staff will be on course taking photos and videos for social media. 

 

On-Course Activities

  • #3 – Closest to the Pin
  • #7 – Longest Putt
  • #10 – Closest to the Pin
  • #12 – Longest Drive

 

Alcohol & Drugs

  • No drug or alcohol consumption on course before or during the competition.  Failure to adhere to this could result in disqualification.

 

Pace of Play

  • Has been established as 2 hours and 15 minutes for the front 9 and 2 hours for the back 9. The total play time is 4 hours & 20 min for 18 holes allowing 5 minutes at the turn.

Conduct

  • In the spirit of sportsmanship please help fellow competitors with rules/procedures when possible.
  • The PEIGA Code of Conduct will be in effect, please click here to review before the competition.
  • A competitor that chooses to leave the competition before completion could be subject to suspension.
  • Verbal abuse of any volunteer, Stanhope staff or PEI Golf Association representative will not be tolerated and could result in disqualification.
