Welcome to the 103rd Central Alberta Amateur
103rd Central Alberta AmateurSaturday, August 02, 2025 - Monday, August 04, 2025
The Red Deer Golf & Country Club boasts a rich history, tracing its roots to July 3, 1919. Initially, the club's course occupied leased terrain in the area now recognized as West Park Estates, featuring six modest fairways. To prevent cattle from encroaching, additional fencing was necessary. The maintenance of the greens was entrusted to sheep, while gophers inadvertently contributed extra holes across the landscape. With ambitions for an improved golfing venue, the club acquired 170 acres across the Red Deer River to the north. By 1922, the club had established itself on this new site, securing its place as one of Canada's 150 oldest active golf courses. Celebrating its new location, the Red Deer Golf and Country Club inaugurated its course and clubhouse on August 22, 1922, coinciding with the first Central Alberta Amateur Golf Tournament, the province's longest-standing men's three-day amateur golf event.
