2025 Eclectic Tournament!
A wide-open, often wild, maximum five round tournament played between May 15 and October 15, 2025. Only one round per calendar month may be played.
You take the best net score on each hole over the five rounds to determine your score. Winning scores are often in the 50s!
-
Open to all current Los Verdes Men’s Club members with a current SCGA index.
-
Rounds may be played from either the white or blue tees.
-
Tournament entrance fee $30.00 must be paid prior to playing the first round. Look for sign up on Golf Genius next week. All money will be awarded to players.
-
Players make their own tee time reservations. Rounds may be played concurrently with any other tournament or club activity round in which you play your own ball tee to green.
-
4 Flights will be created and based on May 15 index.
-
Flight winners will play for the Eclectic Championship on Saturday or Sunday, October 25/26, 2025.
IMPORTANT:
The rules and procedures for the Eclectic are attached. Players are encouraged to download and save them for future reference. They will also be available on the LVMGC website and in the Tournament sign-in notebook in the pro shop. Following the rules and procedures are an important part of competing in this tournament. Failure to follow the rules and procedures, either knowingly or unknowingly, will result in round disqualification.
Please Read the Rules:
Rules
I. Open to all current Los Verdes Men’s Club members with a current SCGA index. Sign-ups are done on Golf Genius and entrance fee ($30) must be paid prior to playing the first round. Sign-up closes May 15, 2025, at 11:59 PM. By paying the entrance fee, players agree they have read and will abide by rules below and keep Oct. 25/26 available to play in the finals. Players make their own tee time reservations.
II. Format
-
Play up to 5 rounds between May 15 and October 15 2025 (5 rounds not required).
-
Only 1 round per calendar month may be submitted, with no make-up rounds for missed months.
-
Rounds can be played from either the Blue or White tees (indicate on score card).
-
Scoring is low net on each hole using day of play SCGA index/handicap with limits (Section III).
-
Final score is the total of best score on each hole over the rounds played (see Section V).
-
Rounds can be played concurrently with any other tournament or club activity round in which you play your own ball tee to green and are playing with another Los Verdes Men’s Club member who must attest your scorecard (see Section VI).
III. Tournament Flights & Index/Handicap Limits
-
The number of flights will be determined by dividing the total number of players by 7, with a maximum number of 4 flights. For example, 25 players divided by 7 = 3.5, which would mean 3 flights. If the number of players is 28 or higher, there will be 4 flights.
-
Players will be assigned to a flight (A, B, C, or D) based on their current index as of April 1, 2024. Grouping may result in a slightly unequal number of players in some flights.
-
Index/Handicap Limits – the WHS Low index as of May 15, 2025, will determine each player’s base handicap. Throughout the tournament, each player’s handicap is limited to +1 stroke from that base handicap. For example, a player who has a May 15 handicap of 18 from the white or blue tees is limited to playing to no more than a 19 for all tournament rounds from those same tees.
IV. Prior to Your Eclectic Round
-
Enter your name, date of play, and attesting member on the Eclectic sign-in page in the Satellite Tournament notebook in the Pro Shop.
-
Note the number on the line you completed and take the pre-numbered scorecard with the same number for your round from the plastic pocket in the notebook.
-
Enter your name and date played and indicate Blue or White tees played on the scorecard.
-
You must declare to your Los Verdes Men’s Club group member(s) that you are playing an Eclectic round before you tee off on the first hole.
V. Scoring the Round
-
Record your gross score on each hole. Per current club tournament procedures, a maximum score of 10 on any hole is allowed.
-
Any hole played with a temporary green or temporary tee must be scored as Par Plus (also called Net Par, which equals par plus any handicap strokes for that hole; par 4 + 1 handicap stroke = 5).
-
Once you have left the first tee, you are committed to playing the Eclectic Round (unless illness or injury prevents you from finishing). You must notify the Tournament Captain of the reason for any incomplete rounds. An incomplete round without a valid reason will result in one round disqualification.
-
The best net score on each hole over the 5 rounds is used to compute the final score (see below).

VI. After the Round
-
Make sure your pre-numbered score card is completed: name, date, tees played, and gross scores.
-
Sign your card and get the attesting member to sign the card; the attesting member must either have their name and scores on the score card, and/or has posted his round on the SCGA website. (This is proof the attesting member played that day).
-
Enter the attesting member’s name on the Eclectic sign-in page; if the attesting member’s name is not legible, you must include the member’s GHIN number.
-
Deposit the completed scorecard in the Black ECLECTIC BOX in the pro shop.
-
Post as a Home Score (unless playing in an official LVMGC tournament).
VII. Standings During the Tournament
-
The Eclectic captain will send out the standings via e-mail (currently Golf Genius) at the beginning of the months of June, July, August, September and October. Mid-month standings may also be sent out if a high number of rounds are played. The final standings will be sent out via e-mail to all players by mid October.
VIII. Eclectic Champion
-
The winner of each flight will be the total of the low net score of each hole over the 5 rounds.
-
In case of ties in a flight, tiebreakers are the back 9 total, then front 9 total, then hole-by-hole comparison, then low-net round to determine the winner.
-
The winner of each flight will play in the Eclectic Championship on Saturday October 25/26, 2025. Flight winners who are unable to play on those dates will be disqualified from the championship. * This date may be changed to a weekday, played by Oct. 31, by unanimous agreement by all finalists and tournament captain.
-
The Eclectic Championship, played from the White PERMANENT markers, is an 18-hole round net match play format, with points awarded for each hole. If 4 flight winners are playing, each hole is worth 4 points; a single low net score gets all 4 points; points for tied holes are divided accordingly.
-
In the case of a tie, the tie-breaking system in VIII-2 above will be used, substituting hole points for net score.
-
The winner of the Eclectic Championship will be recognized by the LVMGC as Eclectic Champion for 2024.
-
The Champion will receive the biggest payout, with a guaranteed minimum of $100. The other 2-3 players in the Playoff will receive payouts based on their results (2nd place will receive more than 3rd place, followed by 4thplace). Remaining monies will be distributed by flights. Payouts below 3rd place in flights will be made if funds allow.
Failure to follow the Eclectic Rules & Procedures or the SCGA rules of golf (local rules excepted) results in round disqualification. Purposeful violation of these rules results in tournament disqualification.
