Underage Interprovincial Championships Regulations

 

a) Age Group

Girls’ Interprovincials – U18 as set out in the General Regulations

Boys’ Interprovincials - U18 as set out in the General Regulations

Boys’ U16 Interprovincials - U16 as set out in the General Regulations

Boys’ U14 Interprovinvials - U14 as set out in the General Regulations

b) Gender

Female & Male as applicable above

c) Handicap

No strokes will be conceded.

In the Girls’ Interprovincial Championship only, the girl with the lowest Handicap Index, within the four singles matches, must play in the first singles match.

d) Eligibility

In addition to Section A of the General Regulations:-

Players are eligible to play in the Interprovincial Championship if they meet both of the following criteria.

1.They were either:

  1. born in the province, or
  2. one of their parents was born in the province, or
  3. one of their grandparents was born in the province, or
  4. they have been residing within the province or are a member of a club within the province for three years on 1st January of the current year.

2. Competitors must hold a Handicap Index.

e) Size of Team

Each team will consist of seven players, a Team Captain and a Manager.

Each squad member must be selected for at least one match, unless the player withdraws their availability and provides reason of withdrawal to interpros@golfireland.ie.

Additionally, each squad member may only play a maximum of one foursomes match.  

f) Submission of Team, Withdrawals, and Draw

  1. Should any player whose name has already been submitted be incapacitated by illness, accident or other unavoidable occurrence, a reserve may be submitted up to the time the player is due to start from the first tee. If no reserve is available the match concerned must be conceded.
  1. If a reserve is not available the match concerned must be conceded.
  2. If a player retires before completion of a match, the match is conceded
  3. The draw for the Championship will be at the discretion of the Committee.
  4. The team list for each morning match must be submitted to the Tournament Office no later than 18:00hrs on the day prior to the match and the team list for each afternoon match must be submitted 30 minutes before play is scheduled to commence.

g) Form of Play

Each Province shall play each other by Match Play which will consist of one Foursomes matches and four Singles matches. The round is 18 holes, with matches all-square after 18 holes being deemed tied. A team win shall count as one point. A halved match shall count as a half point. A lost match shall count as zero points.

h) Practice

An allowance of one practice round for the selected team at each match venue – practice outside the official practice round will be at the expense of the competitor and can be arranged with the host venue by the Team Captain/Manager.

i) Ties

The team with the highest number of individual points (including half points) will take precedence. If still tied the winner of the match between the two teams shall take precedence. Should there still be a tie, the teams tying will share the title.
