ABOUT US

WHAT IS THE ARIZONA SENIORS GOLF ASSOCIATION?

The Arizona Seniors Golf Association is an organization composed of senior golfers, many of whom belong to a number of the Phoenix area's finest private golf and country clubs. Individual members of these clubs plus any other seniors age 50 and over may apply for Arizona Seniors Golf Association membership. Even if you do not belong to a private club and have a U.S.G.A. Handicap you can join as a member at large. We have a Board of Directors and we have an affiliation with the Arizona Golf Association.

HOW LONG HAS THE ORGANIZATION BEEN AROUND?

For over 50 years the Arizona Seniors Golf Association has been playing the finest private clubs in the Phoenix area. Clubs like Arizona Country Club, Phoenix Country Club, Blackstone Country Club, Tatum Ranch Golf Club, Mesa Country Club, Briarwood Country Club, Rio Verde Country Club, and Falcon Dunes Golf Club open their courses to our members once a year for our events.

WHAT'S INCLUDED WITH INDIVIDUAL MEMBERSHIP?

Members are able to participate in any of the organization's eight golf events each year. The events run from November thru May. Annual dues this year are $85($120 if you use Arizona Seniors as your only active handicap club within Arizona), plus the cost of each event which varies with the event. Usually an event will run around $125. You can pick and choose your events.

WHAT DO THE GOLF EVENTS CONSIST OF?

You usually start off with lunch followed by 18 holes of golf with cart and cap it off with dinner and awards. Lunch normally begins at 11:00 followed by an open practice range with golf at 12:30 and dinner at 5:30. You would be headed home by 6:30. Events this season may be affected by COVID and may not follow this normal schedule.

HOW COMPETITIVE IS THE GOLF?

The golf is somewhat competitive, social in nature and fun. The idea is to enjoy a fun, round of golf on a course you will probably play once a year with good friends and nice new acquaintances. There are prizes awarded for 1st and 2nd low net and low gross plus closest to the pins based on handicap. There are also team winners. So, there are plenty of chances to win one prize or multiple prizes. The formats for each tournament will be set in the registration information which can be found at http://www.azsga.com or you can Google us at Arizona Seniors Golf Association and it will take you to our site.

HOW CAN I BECOME A MEMBER OF THE ARIZONA SENIORS GOLF ASSOCIATION?

You can join if you are 50 years of age or older and have a state association USGA Handicap Index. To get more information on the ASGA you may contact Rob Stone, President, at luvtochip@yahoo.com, Jeff Lane, Tournament Chairman, at jefflane611@gmail.com or Mike Mason, Arizona Golf Association, at mmason@azgolf.org.

HOW MUCH MONEY DOES ASGA MAKE A YEAR?

Nothing! We are a non-profit organization. The goal is to make the ASGA experience the best deal for social senior golfers.
