Hello everyone!
The Arizona Senior Golf Association is excited to announce the 2022-23 season. After having limited participation the last couple of years in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, we are looking forward to seeing more of our memberships at this year’s events. Although we are all seeing cost increases in our daily lives, we have worked diligently to continue to provide value to our membership. This year’s annual dues will remain at $85 ($120 if you maintain your handicap through the AGA). Payment of the annual dues can now be done through the AZSGA website (AZSGA.com).
Here is the current schedule of events (times are shotgun starts, except Rancho Manana which will have tee times):
Date Location Time Price Food
Dec 5 Sterling Grove CC 9:00 $120 Golf Only
Jan 2 Legacy Golf Resort 12:30 $135 Dinner
Jan 16 Arrowhead CC 12:30 $115 Lunch/Dinner
Feb 27 Mesa CC 12:30 $120 Lunch/Dinner
Mar 20 Rancho Manana 10:30 $136 Golf Only
April 17 Westbrook Village 12:30 $90 Golf Only
Registration for all scheduled events is now available through the website. In addition, we are still seeking an additional event either in February or late April/early May and will keep you posted when we are able to secure a venue.
It should be noted that with the increase in rounds played around the valley, a number of our past venues have declined to host us this year, including Phoenix CC, Arizona CC, Tatum Ranch CC, Blackstone CC and Rio Verde CC. In addition, we reach out to many courses who either declined to host us or provided pricing that our board deemed higher than our membership would be willing to pay. These included Whirlwind, We Ko Pa, Moon Valley CC, Anthem CC, Superstition Mountain CC, Firerock CC, Eagle Mountain and Raven Golf Club.
This year we are implementing a number of changes to help improve the experience for our members, including:
- Publishing pairings, formats and other event information several days in advance of each event. To support this we will be closing registration one week in advance of the scheduled dates. In addition, we will be requiring all registrants to pay on-line (the AGA will no longer support the mailing of checks with registration)
- Continuing to allow registrants to pick the people with whom they would like to be paired
- Expediting the announcement of prize winners after the event. To support this, we will require at least one person in each group have the Golf Genius app on their phones. In addition, in cases where there is no formal food service after the golf, we are working with those venues to provide a place where our membership can enjoy a beverage during the awards ceremony
We look forward to your participation in the 2022-23 season. If you have any questions, please contact Jeff Lane, Tournament director (jefflane611@gmail.com) or Rob Stone, President (luvtochip@yahoo.com) .
See you on the course!
