Revised refund policy 24th April to 30th June
The organising committee is concerned the events in Iran and the resulting fuel charges and fuel availability may result in a large number of withdrawals that can not be forecast (or predicted). Should this occur the economics of the tournament will create a financial problem similar to the “unavoidable abandonment of the tournament” situation where pre tournament costs incurred are not recoverable by the tournament committee. This creates a force majeure.
“Force majeure refers to an extraordinary, uncontrollable event that prevents a party from fulfilling contractual obligations”
The organising committee in conjunction with the AVGA have determined that any request for a refund, received during the period 24th April to 30th June will need to handled differently that the process that was originally published. The refund request will be withheld by the tournament committee and the value of refund to applicants will be recalculated and advised by July 7th following a complete assessment of withdrawal numbers.
Currently we have 418 registered players and tournament budgets were based on 400 registered players. Thus if withdrawals are not greater than 18 players the original cancellation policy will apply.
