Format including Handicap Allowance
18 Hole Strokeplay competition for teams of 3. All individual scores to count.
Entry is limited to players with a handicap index of 9.4 or less.
On the day of competition course handicaps will be limited to the maximum HI of 9.4.
After entry has closed a draw sheet showing start times using 3 flights will be made available on the County website. Where clubs have entered TWO teams the teams will be created in HI order (lowest first), on the day of the draw.
Eligibility
This competition will be played under the R&A Rules of Amateur Status (Jan 2022).
Only amateur male members of Golf Clubs affiliated to Worcestershire County Golf Ltd. (WCG) are eligible to enter the competition.
Note. All players for a club team must have that club as their "Home" club for WHS handicapping purposes.
Entry Requirements and Dates
To be played at Blackwell Golf Club on Tuesday, June 09, 2026
All WCG affiliated clubs may enter ONE or TWO teams of three players.
Entry will close at Sunday, May 31, 2026 at 01:00 AM, after which a draw will be made, and tee times made available.
There is no entry fee for this competition as all club team events are FREE under the Affiliation Fee Agreement.
Note: This is a club team entry, and members MUST ensure that their club is aware and in agreement with the team(s) entered.
Trophies & Ties
The Tomson-James Cup will be awarded to the Club whose ‘A’ Team has the best aggregate gross score for all 3 players.
In the event of a tie for the Tomson-James Cup or Jubilee Shield, these trophies will be held jointly by the winning teams.
The Jubilee Shield will be awarded to the Club whose ‘B’ Team has the best aggregate gross score for all 3 players.
In the event of a tie for the Tomson-James Cup qualification for the England Golf Champion Club Tournament will be determined by the better or best aggregate score on countback over the last 9, 6, 3 or 1 holes.
When the Result is Confirmed
The results will be announced on the day of the competition after all the scorecards have been returned, checked, and verified.
Terms
The Worcestershire County Golf (WCG) General Terms of Competition apply to this event. Players should make themselves aware of the WCG Pace of Play and Transport policies and the WCG Code of Conduct for participants. See the General Terms and Policies page for details.
Rule 24.4: Team Player may not give advice as the scores in the Team Event are part of a 54-hole Strokeplay event. For the same reason a Team Captain may not give advice to his players.
Requests to change to players or start times must be communicated to the County Secretary; clubs cannot have more than one player from each team in each flight.
Players must not exchange times without informing the County Secretary.
Additional Information
Individual scores from this competition for players with a handicap index of 6.4 or less will be added to the scores for the Worcestershire County Championship (Individual) for the 54 Hole, world ranking, G.D. Carr Cup. Handicaps will be adjusted between the team and individual championships.
Under the direction of the Championship Committee, the Club winning the Tomson-James Cup will represent Worcestershire in the England Golf Men’s Champion Club Tournament.
