Format including Handicap Allowance

The competition is individual Scratch Strokeplay, played over 36 holes (2 rounds on the same day). 

There is a handicap index limit of 6.4 to enter, but entries will be restricted to the 40 lowest EXACT

HANDICAP INDEX amateur players on the closing date for entries.

Where there is a ballot, the HI at the time of the ballot will be used.

Eligibility

This competition will be played under the R&A Rules of Amateur Status (Jan 2022).

Entry Requirements and Dates

To be played at Droitwich Golf Club on Friday, May 22, 2026.

Entry will close on Monday, May 11, 2026 at 01:00 AM, after which a draw will be made, and tee times made available.

The entry fee of £40 is required at time of entry and includes a light lunch - entries without payment will not be accepted. 

A light lunch will be provided. 

Trophies & Ties.

The Guy Bigwood Cup will be awarded to the competitor with the lowest 36-hole gross score.

In the event of a tie for the Guy Bigwood Cup, the competitors with the lowest 36-hole gross scores,

there will be a play-off on the same course, and on the same day, over nominated holes by “sudden death”.

The Secretaries’ Bowl will be awarded to the Amateur competitor with the lowest aggregate gross score for the 72 holes played in the 2026 Worcestershire Amateur Championship and the Worcestershire Open Championship. In the event of a tie, the Secretaries Bowl will be won jointly.

Prizes for Professional competitors will be awarded by the Worcestershire PGA.

An amateur competitor may win any or all trophies and their prizes. A player who has won a trophy cannot win a non-trophy prize. A player may win only one non-trophy prize.

When the Result is Confirmed

The result will be announced on the day of the competition after all the scorecards have been returned, checked, and verified.
