Terms of Competition
QUALIFICATIONS
- Entrants can be male or female and must be aged under 18 at point of entry and must hold a handicap of 20.4 boys and 24.4 girls or lower on the date that their entry for the Championship is submitted. Players with handicaps higher than the stated limits may not enter. The registration fee covers the cost of playing in all events over the prevailing Futures Tour season.
- Maximum Entry
The maximum number of competitors is dictated by the tee times available to each tour stop. If the number of approved entries exceeds the number of places available, a ballot will take place in accordance with, Part I – General Rules Applying to All Competitions, Section 5
- Format
The Futures Tour is a strokeplay competition of a varying number of events played over 9 and 18 holes. Points are awarded according to the table below for gross and nett scores.
Players may play as many or as few tournaments over the tour season as they wish.
Base Points Structure
The core of the system is a tiered points structure for each event. The tour awards more points to higher finishers. Encouraging good performance without overly penalizing a single bad round.

Tiebreaking
In case of ties, each player receives the sum of tied points divided by the number of eligible players.
Failure to withdraw in good time (48 hours) to participate at any tour stop will result in the deduction of 100 points.
- Order of Play
As far as practical, competitors will be drawn in descending order of handicap playing in groups of 3 or 4.
- Prizes and Vouchers
The winner at each tour stop will receive a voucher and any other prizes as offered at the discretion the organisers. The overall season winner will receive a voucher and memento to retain.
Other prizes will be awarded at the discretion of the organisers.
- Transport
Players and their caddies may not ride on any form of transportation.
If a player has a disability that prevents them walking the course, the Tournament Committee will consider a request to use a golf cart during a stipulated round, provided the request is made in writing no later than the date the player applies to enter the competition and provided that the player meets the criteria set out in the Equality Act 2010.
- Adverse Weather
It is in the interests of all players and their caddies to familiarise themselves with the procedures for the suspension and resumption of play published with the Local Rules for the event and which are in line with the recommendations in Model Local Rule J-1
Discontinue Play Immediately: One prolonged blast on an air horn.
Discontinue Play: Three consecutive blasts on an air horn, repeated.
Resume Play: Two short blasts on an air horn, repeated.
The penalty for breach of these procedures is disqualification.
If in the opinion of the Committee it becomes impossible to complete an event due to adverse weather or playing conditions, the Committee has the authority to vary the Terms of the Competition to the extent necessary to enable the competition to be concluded.
Note: The Committee will base their decisions on the advice laid out in Committee Procedures, Section 5A(8) and 6E(4) in the Official Guide to the Rules of Golf.
8. Modifications for Players with Disabilities
In respect of Rule 25 of the Rules of Golf, MIDDLESEX GOLF will follow England Golf’s guidance for determining player eligibility in all MIDDLESEX GOLF competitions.
Any player who considers themselves eligible for Rule 25 must apply to the County Secretary no less than 4 weeks prior to the closing date of the competition.
- Caddies
Players may employ a caddie, but the caddie must be under the age of 18 on the day of the competition.
