IMPORTANT:  Participants must first register in the MSGA TOURNAMENT DIRECTORY to play in any MSGA event.  This is a one-time registration.  If you have registered before, simply sign in when registering for the event.

REGISTRATION

 

PLEASE NOTE:  Both members of your team must be registered in the MSGA Tournament Directory (see directions above).  Then, one person will log in to register the team.  During the application, there will be a place to add the other team member to the registration.  If that person is not registered in the Directory, you will not be able to look up their name.  

 

Registration Opens:  March 15th at 9:00 am

Registration Closes:  September 10th at 11:00 pm

 

Event registration fee is $350 per teamwhich includes 2 rounds of tournament play, lunch, and StrackaLine Yardage Book.  

 

Cart fee is $80 per team (2 seats, 2 days).

 

Optional Add-ons: Per team - Skins Game $50 and Deuce Pot $50

 

Cancellations will be subject to a $10 service charge.  See full Refund Policy below.

 


 

New for 2026 Four-Ball State Championship

Deuce Pot and Skins

 

Per Team:  $50 GROSS Skins game for each round.  $20 per day towards skins.  $10 will go towards the Trip of the Month Raffle ticket drawing.  For every 20 skins and deuces registrations we will give away a Trip of the Month Raffle ticket for the 2026-2027 raffle.

Per Team:  $50 Deuces -  $50 for both days.  Deuces will be for the field.  $20 per day towards 2’s.  $10 will go towards the Trip of the Month Raffle drawing.  For every 20 skins and deuces registrations we will give away a Trip of the Month Raffle ticket for the 2026-27 raffle.

 

Skins and Deuces will be paid in credit at Old Works GC Golf Shop.

Your entry will be confirmed by email.  Unless you have an entry confirmation, you are not officially entered in the tournament.  No entries will be accepted at the host facility.  A list of confirmed players will be posted on the Player Information > Players page.

 

Eligibility

Both members of your team must be legal residents of Montana and current members of the Montana State Golf Association.  Contestants without an MSGA Member Number (GHIN®#) will not be accepted.  To renew online, click here

 

Your online application will serve as your testament of Montana citizenship. 

 

Entries are open to amateur male and female players.

 

Men's Division:  Maximum player Handicap Index® of 15.0

Mixed Division:  Maximum player Handicap Index® of 24.0

 

NOTE:  Handicap Indexes are screened by player, not by team.

 


 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

 

Tournament Format

This tournament is a 2 Person Better Ball competition.  Divisions will be flighted based on team Handicap Index® total.  Men's Division will be a flighted Gross competition.  The Mixed Team Championship will offer Gross and Net Scoring.

 

Handicap revision cutoff is September 11th. 

 

Yardage will be 6,400-6,600 for the Men, and will be 5400-5600 for Women.

 

Field Size 

120 players, or 60 teams of 2.  

 

Men's Division - 72 players, or 36 teams

Mixed Division - 48 players, or 24 teams (minimum)

 

Note:  If the Men's Division is filled, a waiting list will be formed.  A minimum of 24 Mixed teams will be held for registration through August 1st.  If a total of 120 players has not been reached, waitlisted teams will be added.  You will be notified by email if you are moved off of the waitlist.  If you don't receive an email, check your spam folder or the confirmed players on the Player Information > Players page.

 

Shotgun Start

9:00 am Shotgun start each day.  Pairings will be posted to this site and emailed to players by September 14th.

 

Practice Round
Player is responsible for cost of practice round, cart, and range balls, available for a nominal fee.  Players may make a tee time by calling the Old Works Golf Shop at 406-563-5989 for a practice round beginning August 19th. Green Fees for the practice round will be $69 for 18 holes including cart. Players looking to play their practiced round prior to Friday, September 18th, can schedule up to 30 days in advance and receive the $69 rate, Monday - Thursday and after 12:00pm Friday-Sunday.

 

Tournament Check In
The MSGA will be on-site at Old Works GC for player check-in on September 18th, from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm.  You may also check in prior to your Round 1 tee time.

 

Regulations, Personal Appearance
Distance measuring devices are permitted per USGA Local Rule (Decision 14-3/0.5).  No metal or ceramic spikes permitted - soft spikes will be mandatory.  Players are required to wear proper golf attire.

 

Rules of Competition
The USGA Rules of Golf will govern play.  The MSGA Tournament Committee, whose decision will be final, will settle questions.  The competition will be deemed closed when the winners’ awards have been presented.  A complete Rules sheet will be posted and emailed to players the week before the tournament.

 

Push Carts and Caddies
Push carts and caddies are allowed.  However, there is no extra seat in the cart for a caddie.

Refund Policy
If you cancel your registration, or if your entry is rejected for not meeting the qualifications, you will be notified by email and a refund will be issued to your credit card, less a $10 service charge, if prior to the close of registration.  Cancellations made after the close of registration, but prior to pairings being posted to this portal, are eligible for a 50% refund of the registration fee.  Cancellations made after pairings are posted to this portal are not eligible for a refund of the registration fee.  Add-on purchases (i.e. carts, skins, deuces) will be refunded, if before the start of the event.  Questions about credit card charges or refunds can be directed to support@msgagolf.org or 1-800-628-3752, ext 1.
