Message from the President
Gentlemen,
Happy New Year, and welcome to the 2026 season of OFWW golf and what a turnout we had for our first Bash. Your board is looking forward to another great year of fun and fellowship.
2025 was a successful year for the OFWW. As usual, we had to reschedule or cancel a few events due to weather, but we persevered. The Marsh interclub team brought home another trophy, and the Lake team is starting to make some noise at the top of the standings. In conjunction with the KWGA, we were able to put together a fund-raising tournament in two weeks and raised almost $8,000 for those affected by the July hill country floods. And we finished the year with a very successful December Bash where the lunch was superb.
For 2026, we want to continue this good trend. We again plan to have a joint fundraiser with the KWGA, more to come on this. We will always be looking for ways to tweak what we do to make your OFWW experience as enjoyable as possible. The board already has a couple of ideas we are discussing, and we are always willing to listen to positive suggestions. We are also looking at doing a survey in the March time frame to get input on some of the things we may be considering. This is your association, so please take the time to provide your input.
We will also use this forum to communicate on issues or rule interpretations. This month I want to discuss tee selections for play days. Golf Genius allows you to set your default preferred tee boxes for each course. Please make sure you go in and do this if you have not done so already (if you need help, ask someone in your foursome or a board member). On the first tee box, a Golf Genius scorekeeper should be selected for the group. This person should verify which tees each player in the group is playing that day and adjust them if necessary. This way you will be playing with the correct handicap for the tees you select.

February Bash
The February Bash will be on February 10th. The flyer and sign-up link will be sent out shortly.
Please check in with Chris or Sammy when you arrive so we can be sure we have complete teams or adjust as needed.
If you need to cancel during the signup period, you can go into Golf Genius during the signup period and cancel. If you need to cancel after the signup period, please send an e mail to both Chris and Stan letting them know as soon as possible including the night before or Stancoburn20@Gmail.com
If you don’t cancel you will still be charged the registration fee.

Play Days
The play days are a great way to have a tournament type competition and win some money. Stroke play in flighted fields for a $3 entry fee. You sign up for any available tee time and you can meet other golfers by signing up to play with different golfers each time.
We play lift clean and place for all rounds between November 1 and March 31 and we play the tree root rule all year long.
The OFWW policy allows any member to play the forward tees on the Island course without any restrictions. OFWW members can also elect to play the Combo Tees with no restrictions. Please make sure you indicate that on the tee sheet when you sign up.
Sign up will be using Golf Genius. Please look for the mail with the sign-up link or you can go to KCC-OFWW.GolfGenius.com or use the Golf Genius App.
Golf Genius OFWW Member Portal
You can find all kinds of information and do all kinds of things using the Golf Genius App. Download the App from the Apple or Android store. Sign-up is easy by putting in your e mail address. To sign up for play days, to see results and access all kinds of other information go into the App, click on OFWW and then click on Member Portal. Any questions or problems please contact Jack or Brent.
You can change your default tee box for the current round. Sign into the Golf Genius App on your phone, click on enter scores and click on the player’s name in your group that wants to change their tee box. The change is for that round only.
OFWW Interclub
The Kingwood OFWW has two teams that participate in the "North Houston Retired Senior Men's Golf Association". Each team plays home and away matches at other participating clubs, usually on Thursdays. It is a great way to meet people, participate in exciting competitions and play different clubs for just a cart fee. You do not have to play every week.
The standings are based on match points. Two points for a win, one point for a tie. Nassau points are used for the final standings tie breaker.

OFWW Hole in One Club

If you get a hole in one during a playday or Bash to please notify Christopher Reiner at Christopher.reiner@invitedclubs.com and Jack Alexander at Jalexand76@Aol.com about that. The Golf Genius system doesn’t necessarily flag your hole in one, for example if your score on that hole is tied with somebody else. Please tell them the hole and course, witnesses, club used, enclose a picture if you took one etc.. If you are in the hole in one pot Chris can get the payout process started.
Please do participate in the HIO pot and win some money to buy your playing partners drinks.
