GUIDE TO DIGITAL SCORECARDS
The 2026 Welsh Boys & Girls Championship will be a trial for a paperless event with digital scorecards for competitors. Below is an outline of what players need to do and how digital scoring works.
Remember to ensure that you have sufficient battery on your phone and enough data.
Digital Scorecards
- All players will need to download the Golf Genius App; this is available for both Apple and Android devices.
- Once downloaded do not login using your Golf Genius Account, alternatively if you are already logged in, please log out. Instead switch to the GGID tab, each player has a unique GGID which will be available from the starter
- Please note that there will be a new GGID for each round.
- Once you have entered your GGID you will be logged into a digital scorecard. The software will automatically assign you a player to mark. From here on in the scorecard works exactly the same as a paper scorecard and you will be required to complete the scores of the player you are marking and your own scores.
- After each hole fill in the scores and then you are required to click “Save Scores” on the bottom right of the screen after each hole. Once saved click the next hole option on the top right of the screen.
- You can also use these buttons to navigate back to previous holes
- If your phone signal drops out at any point please continue scoring when you have phone signal again.
- At the end of the round the App will provide you with the scorecard of the player you have marked with their marker scores, and your scorecard that the other player has marked alongside your scores you have marked. If there are any differences in the scores this will flag up in yellow.
- You will be able to alter the scores that do not match on this screen.
- At this stage we ask you to come up to the Championship Office (located in the Observation Room) to go through the scoring process the same as usual as if we had paper scorecards. At this stage we can help players through any score discrepancies or any questions around the scorecards
- There is a tick box to confirm and sign your scores, please refrain from doing this until you have undergone the recording process in the Championship Office where a Wales Golf Official will tell you to do this process.
Accessing Local Rules and Pin Positions
- To access digital copies of the Local Rules and daily Pin Positions, click on the three lines on the top left of the screen. Select the option for “Member Portal” –> “Player Information” –> “Local Rules” and/or “Pin Positions”
- When you want to return to the digital scorecard, click the three lines in the top left again and select the option “Enter Scores” to return to the Scorecard
- Alternatively, Local Rules and Pin Positions will be available on the noticeboard in the clubhouse. Players can take a picture or screenshot from the links in the email this is attached to and alternate between the Golf Genius App and their photograph app.
Please note that we will only be using Digital Scorecards for the two Strokeplay Rounds and will not be needed for the Matchplay stages.
This is the very first time that Wales Golf have utilised Digital Scorecards for any of our Competitions and we would greatly appreciate any feedback you have. You will have the opportunity to provide feedback in the Event Survey that will be sent out on Thursday. We encourage any feedback to be done via the survey so that all feedback is centralised and in writing.
We appreciate your patience and involvement in this trial this week and hope you all have a great Championship
