Additional Local Rules
In addition to the Rules of Golf, as approved by The R&A Rules Limited, and the 2026 Wales Golf Championship and Matches Hard Card, the following supplementary Local Rules will apply to the golf course:
- Out of Bounds (Rule 18.2)
- On or beyond any fence or wall marked with white stakes.
- The practice ground, area in front of the clubhouse and the car park, marked with white stakes.
- Penalty Areas (Rule 17)
- Any unmarked ditch, stream or pond is to be treated as a Red Penalty Area.
- All bridges and artificial crossing points over penalty areas are deemed to be wholly in the Penalty Area.
- Holes 2, 3, 13 & 14 – the part of the foreshore marked as a Red Penalty Area, is a No Play Zone defined by a fence and/or red marker posts. If a player’s ball is in this penalty area, including when it is known or virtually certain to be in that penalty area even though not found, the player must take relief under Rule 17.1.
- Abnormal Course Conditions (Rule 16)
- Any area bounded by a white line.
- Holes 5 & 13 - relief must be taken for a ball at rest, within the lined area surrounding the road crossing the 5th and 13th holes.
- In the General Area, where a visible embedded stone interferes with the lie of the ball, the player’s stance and/or area of intended swing, relief may be taken under Rule 16.1b.
- No Play Zones (Rule 16.1f)
- Holes 8 & 10 – if a player’s ball comes to rest in the area marked by green stakes, Rule 16.1f applies and relief must be taken without penalty.
- Movable Obstructions (Rule 15)
- Wales Golf Feather Flags, Pop-up Banners & Putting Green Mini Banners.
- Ropes and linked posts on the course are movable obstructions.
- Immovable Obstructions (Rule 16)
- All artificially surfaced roads, paths and bridges.
- All artificial structures on the course.
- Steps leading into bunkers are wholly in the general area.
- As an additional option for interference from the sleepers to the right. of the first tee, the player may use the marked drop zone.
- Temporary Immovable Obstructions (MLR F-23)
- Wales golf Tee boards on the first tee
- Designated practice areas
- The practice putting area to the rear of the 1st tee.
- The practice area to the left of the 17th hole.
- Putting Greens
- The edges of putting greens are defined by white dots on holes 8, 10 and 11
- The edges of putting greens are defined by white dots on holes 8, 10 and 11
- Doubt as to Procedure (Rule 20.1c)
- If a competitor is doubtful of the correct procedure during a hole, and a WG official is unavailable the player should attempt to contact the Championship Director on 07821665609. If a ruling is still unavailable, they may, without penalty, complete the hole with two balls as described in the provisions of Rule 20.1c(3).
