TERMS OF COMPETITION

 

The following terms of the competition, together with any additions or amendments as published by the Tournament Committee at the host club, will apply to this Championship.

 

GENERAL

 

  1. The 35th Singapore Open Senior Amateur Championship 2026 (SOSAC)  will be played at Venue To Be Confirmed, Seletar Country Club from Tuesday, September 22, 2026 - Friday, September 25, 2026, following the Rules of Golf as approved by R&A Rules Limited and with the Local Rules approved by the Organising Committee (OC).

  

ELIGIBILITY 

  1. Entries are open to male amateur golfers who are aged 55 years and above and female amateur golfers aged 50 years and above as at 1 January 2026 and with a WHS Handicap Index of 17.4 (TBC) or lower for men and 24.0 or lower for women, as of 1 July 2026.

 

  1. All entries will be subject to the approval of the Organising Committee (OC) which reserves the right to accept or refuse or, having accepted, subsequently reject any entry without giving a reason for its decision.

 

  1. Handicap Index with Excessive Penalty Scores will not be accepted.

 

  1. Entrants must conform in all respects to the Rules of Amateur Status as approved by R&A Rules Ltd.

 

 

TOURNAMENT FORMAT OF PLAY

 

  1. Individual Event: The Championship will be decided by stroke play over three rounds of 18 holes each. A cut will be made after 36 holes for the top 60% of the respective divisions, who shall qualify for the final round. The cut will be at the discretion of the Organizing Committee if the field is smaller than expected.

 

  1. The Champion shall be the player with the lowest aggregate score over the three rounds.

 

  1. Players will also compete in Divisions based on the following age and gender groups:

  1. A Team Event will be held in conjunction with the Championship.

 

  1. It shall be played over the first two (2) rounds of the Championship.

 

  1. There will be 2 divisions for the Team Event, namely the Men’s Team and Ladies’ Team Divisions. For those who want to join, players must create their own team.


(i) Each team will be composed of 2 players from the same gender group. 


(ii) Registration for the Team event is $40.00 net/team. The Team registration must be done before the first round commences. 

 

  1. The Winning Team shall be the team with the lowest combined gross scores of the team members for the 2 rounds.

 

  1. In the event of insufficient entries, the Team Event may be canceled, and the registration fee for the Team Event will be refunded.

 

SIZE OF FIELD

 

  1. The field will be limited to a maximum of 108 participants. Entries will be accepted from applicants with the lowest Handicap Index within each division.

 

 

  1. The OC reserves the right to refuse any entry without assigning any reason for such refusal. The decisions of the OC as to the acceptance or refusal of any entry shall be final.

 

 

ENTRY FEES

 

  1. S$508 for Singapore Citizens and Singapore Permanent Residents

  S$608 for Foreigners

 

       Special Rate: 

         $258 for Host Club Full Members (Singaporeans/PRs)  

         $308 for Host Club Full Members (Foreigners)

 

       Entry fees are inclusive of the following:
 

  • 9% GST 
  • 4 x Buggy Fees
  • 4 x Days Green fees
  • 4 x Save The Green Fees
  • Lunch from Round 1 to Round 3
  • 1 x 5R Round 1 Flight Photo 
     

 

PAYMENT

 

  1. Participants may pay via credit/debit card only. Cards will get charged only when players get promoted to the confirmed roster.

 

  1. There will be no refund of the entry fee after the closing date.

 

  1. Entries must be submitted through the official online entry form on the SGA/Event website.

 

  1. Participants are advised to check the SGA website for confirmation of entries received.

 

  1. Only entries with payment instructions will be processed.
    The OC reserves the right to limit, accept, or reject entries. 

 

 

WITHDRAWAL POLICY

 

  1. There is no penalty if a player withdraws before the closing date ( Friday, July 24, 2026 at 23:00, Singapore Time ). Should a player withdraw after the closing date, the entry fee will be forfeited, and should the player fail to give less than 72 hours' notice before the date of the tournament, the player will be suspended from playing in the tournament the following year.

 

 

CLOSING DATE

 

  1. The online registration will close on Friday, July 24, 2026 at 23:00)  Singapore Time.

 

  1.  Late entries may be accepted at the sole discretion of the OC.

 

DRAW

 

  1. The draw for the practice, first & second rounds will be made by the OC before the start of the Championship. They shall be released 3 days before the event schedule. Men will tee off from the SGA white tee markers & ladies will tee off from the red tee markers.

 

  1. The draw for the final round will be based on the gross and cumulative scores of the preceding rounds.

 

TIME OF STARTING

 

  1. Players shall start at the time and in the order indicated in the draw. No substitution of players and changes in starting times shall be permitted after the draw has been made. The event will be held in the morning.

 

  1. The OC reserves the right to fix and/or alter the starting times.

 

SUBMISSION OF SCORECARD

 

  1. Players should check their cards in the returning area (scoring table) and ensure that they are correct and signed. Any doubtful points should be settled with the OC before returning the scorecard.

 

  1. A player is deemed to have returned his scorecard, and no further amendments may be made once he has left the returning area (scoring table) or the demarcated area where they exist.

 

DECISION OF TIES

Individual Event

  1. In the event of a tie or ties for the overall Men & Ladies Champion, it shall be decided by a hole-by-hole play-off to take place as soon as practical. The purpose of the play-off is to decide the Champion only. In the event of inclement weather or other reasons deemed by the Tournament Director to make a play-off impractical, the winner shall be decided by matching of scorecards of the 3rd round for the best score of the last 18 holes (1 – 18), last 9 (10 – 18), last 6 (13 – 18), last 3 (16 – 18) or the final 18th hole. If necessary, the 2nd or 1st round will be used in the same manner to break the tie.

 

  1. Ties for all other positions will be decided by matching of scorecards of the 3rd round for the best score of the last 18 holes (1-18), last 9 (10-18), last 6 (13-18), last 3 (16-18) or the final 18th hole. If necessary, the 2nd and 1st rounds will be used in the same manner to break the tie.

 

Team Event

 

  1. In the event of a tie or ties for the first and any place, the tie will be decided on the lowest combined team scores of the 2nd round. If a tie still arises, the combined team scores of the 1st round will be used until a decision is reached. The Organising Committee’s decision to determine the Winning Team is final.

 

SUSPENSION OF PLAY FOR DANGEROUS SITUATION (NOTE TO RULE 5.7b)

 

  1. A suspension of play for a dangerous situation and the resumption of play shall be signaled using the host club’s warning system. The penalty for Breach of Rule 5.7b is Disqualification.

 

  1. All practice areas that are in open areas shall be closed during suspension for a dangerous situation until the OC has declared them open.

 

INCLEMENT WEATHER

 

  1. If the first round of the tournament cannot be completed, it shall be continued the next day before the commencement of the second round.

 

  1. If the second round of the tournament cannot be completed, it shall be continued the next day before the commencement of the third round.

 

  1. If the second and/or third round cannot be completed, the rounds shall be abandoned. The result of the tournament will then be based on the completed rounds.

 

  1. However, if the Tournament Committee considers that for any reason the course is not in a playable condition or due to unforeseen circumstances that completion of the round is deemed impossible, it may order a temporary suspension of play or declare play null and void and cancel all scores for the round in question. When a round is canceled, all penalties incurred in that round are canceled.

 

  1. The decision of the Tournament Committee will be final.

 

CADDIES

A player is prohibited from using a caddie during the stipulated round.

 

 

BUGGIES

 

  1. Players shall use buggies throughout the Championship. Buggies must not be driven up onto the putting green. A serious breach of this etiquette, the misuse of buggies, or repeated failure to heed instructions on the restriction of the movement of buggies, may result in disqualification.

 

  1. Players are responsible for any damage to their buggies.

 

PACE OF PLAY

  1. Rule 5.6b (Prompt Pace of Play) will be strictly enforced using the SGA Individual Pace of Play policy. See the separate memorandum to players for the Pace of Play guidelines. All flights must cross over by 11:30 (TBC)

 

DISPUTES OR DOUBTS AS TO THE PROCEDURE

  1. If there is a doubt as to the correct procedures, players are to refer to the Tournament Referee. If a Tournament Referee is not immediately available, a player (having notified his marker) may elect to play two balls in accordance with Rule 20.1c(3) and obtain a ruling after the round, before signing and the return of the scorecard.

 

  1. No spectators are to enter into any discussion on a matter under dispute.

 

SGA REFEREES

 

  1. The SGA Referee’s decision on all matters about the Rules of Golf is final.

 

INSURANCE

 

  1. All players are required to have appropriate golfing insurance.

 

LIST OF CONFORMING DRIVER HEADS & GOLF BALLS

 

  1. List of Conforming Driver Heads: Model Local Rule G-1 is in effect.

 

  1. List of Conforming Golf Balls: Model Local Rule G-3 is in effect.

 

 

GROOVE AND PUNCH MARK SPECIFICATIONS

  1. Groove and Punch Mark Specifications: Model Local Rule G-2 is in effect. 

 

PRIZES

 

  1. The following prizes will be awarded:
     

i. Overall Champion & Runner-Up

ii. Division Winner

                ** Players are eligible to win only one prize. Should a player qualify for multiple prizes,

                      the Overall Category results will take precedence over any divisional prizes.

iii. Top 3 Best Local Participants (Male & Female)

     **Divisions with fewer than 7 participants before the cut will have only one winner. 


iv. Team Event (Combined Gross) – Winner & 1st Runner Up

 

PRACTICE ROUND  (Playing for the official practice round is optional.)

 

  1. The course is available to players for practice on the morning of 22 September.

 

  1. No multiple-ball play shall be allowed during the practice round.

 

 

PRIZE PRESENTATION CUM LUNCHEON

 

  1. All participants are invited to join the Lunch cum Prize Presentation on Friday, 25 September 2026, after the results have been finalized. 

 

DRESS CODE

 

  1. Players must be properly attired on the golf course. Blue jeans, designer jeans, round-neck T-shirts, and tank tops are prohibited. Golf shirts must be worn, and shorts must be no shorter than mid-thigh (no jean shorts).

 

  1. This dress code will be used in conjunction with any additional dress code restrictions of the host club. A player violating this dress code will not be permitted to start the tournament. A violation of this dress code by a player during the stipulated round must be rectified without undue delay, or the player will not be allowed to continue playing.

 

  1. Soft-spiked shoes are compulsory.

 

 

CONDUCT OF PLAYERS

 

  1. All players should conduct themselves in a disciplined manner, demonstrating courtesy and sportsmanship at all times, irrespective of how competitive they may be.

 

  1. Any action contrary to the spirit of the game, such as abusive language, throwing of clubs, or other disruptive behaviours, will not be tolerated and may result in a player not being able to continue in this competition.

 

  1. The use of mobile phones (except in an emergency) and smoking are not allowed on the course.

 

  1. All players may use the host club's practice facilities after their rounds.

 

  1. Failure to comply with the above will result in disqualification under the penalty for breach of Rule 1.2b.

 

 

SPECTATORS (TBC)

 

  1. Spectators are NOT allowed to go on the course.

 

INDEMNIFICATION AND LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

 

  1. The Organizing Committee (OC), the host club, the appointed officials, and staff are not liable for any loss, damage, harm, or injuries, howsoever caused, incurred by participants during this Championship.

 

  AMENDMENTS TO CONDITIONS
 

  1. The OC reserves the right to amend these Championship conditions.

It is the responsibility of each competitor to ensure that he/she has read and complied with the Terms of Competition of this event.

THIS TOURNAMENT WILL BE PLAYED IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE SINGAPORE NATIONAL SENIOR  AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP 2025

LATE REGISTRATION WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
