TERMS OF COMPETITION
GENERAL
The 2026 NGAP Riviera Amateur Open will be played at the Riviera Golf Club, Inc. from January 13-16, 2026 in accordance with the Rules of Golf (effective January 2026) as approved by the R&A Rules Limited and with the Local Rules approved by the Organizing Committee.
ELIGIBILITY
The Championship is open to male and female amateur golfers who satisfy the following requirements:
- Must conform in accordance with the Rules of Amateur Status as approved by the R&A Rules Limited.
- Must possess a valid handicap index issued by a bonafide Golf Federation/Association within the stipulated range as of December 1, 2025 for the respective genders as follows:
- WHS handicap index of 8.0 or lower for male.
- WHS handicap index of 12.0 or lower for female.
SCHEDULE of PLAY
January 12 (Monday) Official practice round
January 13 (Tuesday) Round 1
January 14 (Wednesday) Round 2 [with cut after round]
January 15 (Thursday) Round 3
January 16 (Friday) Round 4
FORMAT OF PLAY
The Championship will be decided by stroke play over 4 rounds of 18 holes using the Gold tees for Men and White tees for Women.
- There shall be a cut-off after 36 holes, top 40 and ties for MEN and top 20 and ties for LADIES qualifying for the last two rounds.
- The Champion of each division shall be the players with the lowest aggregate score over 4 rounds (72 holes).
- Players scoring 95 and over for Men and 100 and over for Women on any of the first two (2)
rounds will be eliminated.
SIZE of the FIELD
- The field will be limited to a maximum of 120 participants.
- In the event that the entries fall short or exceed of the aforesaid respective numbers, the Committee reserves the right to amend the eligibility requirements as they deem fit. In general, entries will be based on the entrants with the Lowest Handicap Index.
ENTRY
- The Entry Fee shall be PHP 6,000.00 for Filipino citizens and PHP 7,000.00 for foreign citizens.
- Once your slot in the tournament has been confirmed via email, please pay the entry fee via online bank transfer to the NGAP Bank account.
- Entries must be made via online registration.

- Entries must be received not later than January 7, 2026 (Wednesday) – 5:00pm
- The Organizing Committee reserves the right to limit, accept or reject any entry without assigning any reason whatsoever. Late entries will be accepted at the discretion of the Organizing Committee.
- Any WITHDRAWAL or CANCELLATION must be made before January 9, 2026 (Friday) – 5:00pm as there will be NO refund of the Entry Fee after this date.
PRACTICE ROUND
- Players will be allowed one (1) free practice round on January 12, 2026 (Monday) provided they have registered and entry fee has been paid.
- Practice on any other day may be made based on availability of non-holiday and non-weekend.
- Additional practice rounds can be arranged with Riviera Golf Club, and corresponding green fee must be paid directly to the club.

DRAW/PAIRINGS
The Draw/Pairings for the First and Second Rounds will be made by the Organizing Committee before the start of the Championship. The Draw/Pairings for the Third and Final rounds will be based on scores of the previous Rounds.
TIME OF STARTING
- Players shall start at the time and order indicated in the DRAW. No substitution of players and changes of starting time shall be allowed after the DRAW has been made.
- The ORGANIZING COMMITTEE reserves the right to change and alter the starting times without giving any reason.

SUBMISSION of SCORECARD
Players must check their cards in the Scoring Office and ensure that their scores are correct and be signed by their markers. Any doubtful point should be settled with the Organizing Committee before returning the Scorecard.
DECISION OF TIES
- In the event of a tie or ties for the First place, the Champion shall be decided by a hole-by-hole play-off starting at Hole #1 until a winner is determined. The play-off will determine the Champion only.
- All other ties will be decided by count back in the following order:
- Last 18 holes (1st-18th);
- Last 9 holes (10th-18th);
- Last 6 holes (13th-18th)
- Last 3 holes (16th-18th)
- Last hole (18th)
SUSPENSION OF PLAY FOR DANGEROUS SITUATION
- A suspension of play for a dangerous situation and the resumption of play shall be signaled using the host club’s warning system.
- All open practice areas shall be closed during suspension for a dangerous situation until the Organizing Committee has declared them open. Players who do not heed will be subject to disqualification.
USE OF DISTANCE MEASURING DEVICE
- For this Championship, a player may obtain distance information by use of a distance measuring device. If during a stipulated round, a player uses a distance- measuring device to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his play (e.g., elevation changes, wind speed, etc.). The player is in breach of Rule – 4.3 for which the penalty is for disqualification.
- The use of rangefinders with wind and slope corrections are not permitted.
INSURANCE & MISCELLANEOUS FEES
All players are required to pay the golf insurance and miscellaneous fees required by the golf club.
USE OF CADDIE
The club has sufficient caddies and players must use the club’s caddies, however, personal caddies may be used, provided they are not PROFESSIONALS and the player must pay the corresponding caddy fee to the Club for the caddy on deck. CADDIE FEE: PHP 600.00 minimum per 18 holes.
GOLF CARTS
Motorized transportation of any kind is not allowed.
PACE OF PLAY
- Each hole has been given a maximum completion time based upon the length and difficulty of the Hole. The maximum allotted time for completion of 18 holes will be available prior to the round.
- The maximum allowed time allocated per shot is 40 seconds. The timing will start when the player has had sufficient time to reach his ball, it is his turn to play and he is able to play without interference or distraction.
- However an extra 10 seconds is allowed for the first player to play :
- Tee shot on a par 3 hole.
- Second shot on par 4’s and par 5’s.
- From on or near the putting green at any hole.
- The timing will start when it is the player’s turn to play and there is no interference or distraction.
- Penalty for Breach of Condition
1 bad time. Players will be warned by the referee and told that further bad will be subject to penalty.
2 bad time. Penalty of one (1) Stroke
3 bad time. Further penalty of two (2) strokes.
4 bad time. Disqualification.
TOURNAMENT RULES OFFICIALS/REFEREES
The Tournament Rules Officials/Referees' decision on all matters pertaining to the Rules of Golf is final.
COMPETITION CLOSED
When the prizes are presented to the winners, the results of the competition are deemed officially announced and the competition is closed.
STANDARDS OF PLAYER CONDUCT (Rule 1-2)
- All players ARE EXPECTED TO PLAY IN THE SPIRIT OF THE GAME. There is no penalty under the Rules for failing to act accordingly, except that the Organizing Committee may disqualify a player for acting contrary to the spirit of the if it is established that the player has committed serious misconduct.
- The following may be considered as serious breach of PLAYER CONDUCT:
- Continuous use of cellular phones during the round. Players will be warned accordingly by the Referee or by a Committee member.
- Verbal abuse to a fellow competitor/official/staff.
- Intentionally distracting or offending fellow competitors.
- Causing unnecessary damage to the course or club property.
- Any other action which may be considered to be breach of PLAYER CONDUCT.
- ANY OF THE ABOVE SERIOUS BREACH of Conduct is subject to disqualification penalty.
- All of the above applies to all parents and other spectators watching the players.
SPECTATORS/COACHES/PARENTS
- Spectators, coaches, and parents must remain on the cart path at all times. They must stay off the tees, general areas, putting greens, bunkers and penalty areas. They are allowed to use golf carts.
- They should maintain a 30-yard distance from any of the players comprising the flight they are watching to avoid the impression that they are giving advice, assisting, or intervening in any way.
- Bullying of any form will not be tolerated. They may only approach a player when they are handing them over drinks or snacks within the round.
- Those found to be violating these policies will be asked to leave the course.
- The committee reserves the right to apply stroke penalties to players whose spectators/coaches/parents are in violation of any terms of competition, or whose spectators/coaches/ exhibit any type of misconduct on the course.
