Correcting a Procedural Mistake. (Rule 14.5) With all of these new changes, there will certainly be times when you have proceeded incorrectly by applying the old Rules. If you have dropped a ball from shoulder height incorrectly, and before a stroke has been made, you may correct your mistake and proceed under the correct Rule to avoid further penalty. In short, if you drop a ball other than from knee height you may always pick up the ball and drop it correctly from knee height. If you are dropping due to a penalty relief situation, that initial penalty will still of course apply.
