An Exciting finish saw our U18s come close to victory against Warwickshire.

Our opening league match of the season saw us take on Warwickshire at Halesowen GC.

The Worcs pairings set of in determined mood in the foursomes matches with 3 of the 4 pairs taking early leads, but the Warwickshire pairings battled back hard which meant all the games were close going into the final 6 holes, most of the matches could have gone in either counties favour. Unfortunately, Warwickshire pinched 3 of the 4 games with the only Worcs win coming from Harry Evans and Freddie Willson, who managed a 2&1 victory.

Unperturbed the Worcs team still thought they could turn the match around after seeing the singles draw. Again, there was some tight matches with Harry Evans (5&3), Noah Wilson (2&1), Nick Campbell (4&3), and an impressive debut by Jake Jeff-Johnston (5&4) all winning and Alex Perry getting a half. Unfortunately, Worcs just came up short in some of the other matches and Warwickshire came out on top to earn a 6.5 points to 5.5 victory.

It was a great spirited performance from the Worcs team who never gave up until the final putt had been holed. We go again against S&H in our next match on 7th June.

I would like to thank Halesowen Golf Club for making us extremely welcome throughout the day, the green staff for the presentation of the course,  and the catering team for looking after us so well. I would like to congratulate Warwickshire and wish them well for the rest of the season.

A special thank you to all of our parents for taking and collecting the lads.
