On a slightly overcast summer’s day, our U18's team took on Staffs at Bromsgrove GC in their last league fixture of the season.

Worcs opening pairing of Joe Lonergan and Morgan Bowan produced some fine golf with Joe holing two 20-foot birdie putts on 15 and 16 to close out their match with a 3&2 win against an exception Staffs pairing.

The other highlight of the morning foursomes came from the two debutants, Freddie Willson and Max Wesley, as they looked like veterans running out comfortable winners 5&4.

That left the match evenly poised at 2-2 going into lunch.

With Staffs needing to win the match to win, the league they came out in devastating form in the afternoon singles claiming a 7-1 victory, Worcs only win came from stand-in Capt. Harry Fall (2&1).

Final result - Worcestershire 3 Staffordshire 9

Congratulations to Staffordshire who also won the West Midlands league title with the win and we wish them well in the Midlands final against Cambridgeshire, which is a repeat of last year’s final.

I would like to thank Bromsgrove Golf Club for making us extremely welcome throughout the day, the green staff for the presentation of the course and the catering team for looking after us so well.

That concludes our league fixtures for 2025 and we look forward to the 2026 season.
