U16’s v Derbyshire

 

The U16’s started their league campaign at home to Derbyshire on Sunday 3rd May. The venue was Churchill & Blakedown with the course in stunning condition after some overnight rain. The club closed the course for the juniors and we couldn’t have felt more welcomed. 

 

The foursomes saw some high quality golf into the first green and this set the tone for the day. Nick Campbell and Oliver Meyer formed a very strong partnership to win 6&5 but this unfortunately was our only point in the morning session. 

 

The singles saw a strong Worcestershire fightback and there were some standout performances. Oskar Nielsen continued his good form with a win on the last hole. Oliver Meyer won 7&6 to cap an outstanding debut for the Gaudet Luce player. Our captain Ollie Ansell birdied the last to win one up and finally Theo Lowe ensured the singles finished 4-4 with a strong win. The boys showed lots of fighting spirit but ultimately lost 7-5 on the day. 

 

 

 

I would like to thank the course for such amazing hospitality. The food as always was outstanding and the club staff were on hand all day. Thanks to Kevin Fee & Roger Martin for their help and all the parents for their support.
