Worcestershire U14 v S&H U14

Our U14 team started the season at home to Shropshire & Herefordshire at Pitcheroak GC. The weather was good and the course was in excellent condition so the boys were excited to get underway. The first match saw our captain Oskar Nielsen partner Harry Bird. It was a close match that went down the last and saw Harry sink a long putt to win 2up. The second match saw Edward Perry partner Max Gabbitas who was making his county debut. The match was quite tight through the first six holes until the Worcestershire boys won back-to-back holes. Max held a 15ft putt on the 10th hole to go 5up and Edward secured a 6&5 win with a lovely birdie on the 13th hole. The next match saw Kai Russell partner Jude Jones on his debut. It was close early on until some excellent golf at the turn saw Kai & Jude win comfortably 5&3. The following group saw Gaudet Luce players Will Hadley & Jensen Chan partner each other again. After an early chip in from Jensen it was over to Will to hole the putt on the 13th hole to secure another point for Worcestershire. Finally, it was down to Hagley duo Harry Clough and Will Minihane to anchor the team home on their debuts. This was the closest match of the day and it went down the last where Will secured the win with a classy par and celebration.

Congratulations to all the boys for a fantastic start to the season. The boys should be very proud of this result and their efforts on the day. My thanks go to Pitcheroak for all the hospitality and producing a course in fine condition. I would also like to thank Paul Wood for being the starter on the day. Finally, thanks go to my assistant Roger Martin whose expertise and advice was invaluable.
