BC Golf – Provincial Championship Exemption Guidelines

Players need to apply through Golf Genius to request an exemption to a Provincial Championship

Field size permitting, players with a WAGR ranking of 1500 or better as of May 1 are automatically exempt and can register directly for their respective event.

Players may apply for exemptions to the following events:

  • BC Junior Boys (Aged 18 or younger as of August 1st, 2026)
  • BC Amateur
  • BC Senior Men (Aged 55 or older as of September 8th, 2025)

Players may need to apply for an exemption for the following reasons:

  • Non-BC residents who do not meet entry requirements for Zone Qualifiers.
  • College players with school or team commitments during Zone Qualifiers.

BC Golf will give priority to exemption applicants who fulfill one of the reasons above.

Players who choose to compete in other events or who have a conflict during Zone Qualifiers should also apply for an exemption through their Zone.

The exemption guidelines below are simply a guide to help players understand how the Selection Committee makes exemption decisions. Other factors may influence how exemptions are awarded. BC Golf may award exemptions to Provincial Championships at its sole discretion and decisions cannot be appealed.

Applications will close on June 1st at 11PM. The BC Golf Selection Committee will make final exemption decisions in the 3-5 days following the deadline. Successful applicants may be notified before the deadline
