ELIGIBILITY

  1. Handicap Index must be 2.4 or less on the date of the application filing and at the registration deadline.  It is the player’s responsibility to ensure their Handicap Index is up to date before the registration deadline. If a player’s handicap exceeds the eligibility at the registration deadline, their application will be denied.
  2. This competition is open to male amateur golfers who are members of a golf club belonging to Golf Canada or holds a Public Player membership with Golf Canada.  International players must be members in good standing with their respective association.
  3. All applications are subject to approval or rejection by Golf Canada at any time before or after the start of play.
  4. Any player who believes they are eligible to use the Modification for Players with Disabilities (Rule 25), should contact Adam Cinel at acinel@golfcanada.ca at entry to confirm their eligibility to use the specific modifications in Rule 25.  Please refer to the Policy for Eligibility Requirements of Players with Disabilities under Rule 25 and the Rule 25 Request Form.


ENTRY FEE & APPLICATION PROCEDURE

  1. The entry fee for the Canadian Men’s Amateur Championship is $425 CAD (tax included).  There is a $25/player public facility fee (included in the $425 entry fee) associated with hosting at Heritage Pointe Golf Course.  Please note that Golf Canada only accepts credit cards (Visa, MasterCard and American Express) as a method of payment.
  2. To apply, visit www.golfcanada.ca/competitions-calendar and click on the register link by the event you would like to participate in.  Remember to submit the application well in advance of the registration deadline.  Late, incomplete, or inaccurate applications will not be accepted and are not the responsibility of Golf Canada. 
  3. Canadian players must register as a “Golf Canada member.”  You will then be instructed to log-in to Golf Genius, using their Golf Canada membership credentials. If you need assistance accessing your Golf Canada membership, please call 1-800-263-0009 x399 or email members@golfcanada.ca. 
  4. International players must register as a "non-member.”
  5. After registering, players will receive an email noting their application is PENDING.  Payment will not be processed until a player is ACCEPTED.  Once a player is accepted into a championship and payment has been processed, entry fees are non-refundable.

 


CHAMPIONSHIP FIELD

The Canadian Men’s Amateur Championship will feature a maximum of 264 players.  If the field is under-subscribed at the closing deadline, all eligible players will be accepted. If the field is over-subscribed at the closing deadline, the Golf Canada Selection Committee will select the field’s non-exempt players.  Please note that members of provincial teams are exempt from the Handicap Index limit.  Golf Canada reserves the right to revise the championship field based upon the entries received before the registration deadline of each event. 

 

Provincial Quota Spots

Each Provincial Golf Association has been allocated a quota of entries into the Canadian Men’s Amateur Championship.  Each Provincial Golf Association will decide on how their quota spots will be filled.  Golf Canada will invite the players who qualify through their respective province.  The registration must be completed within 72 hours of receiving the invitation.  Unused quota spots past that deadline will be returned to Golf Canada for discretionary use.

  • 2027 Canadian Men’s Amateur Championship (if eligible)



CANADIAN MEN’S AMATEUR – SUPPLEMENTAL QUALIFIER
Golf Canada will conduct a qualifier for the 120th Canadian Men's Amateur on Friday, July 24, 2026 at Mickelson National Golf Club.  All non-exempt, non-Provincial Quota players must attempt to qualify on Friday, July 24.

Qualifier Entry Requirements

This competition is open to male amateur golfers who are members of a golf club belonging to Golf Canada or holds a Public Player membership with Golf Canada.  International players must be members in good standing with their respective association.  Handicap Index must be 2.4 or less on the date of the application filing.  It is the player’s responsibility to ensure their Handicap Index is up to date before the application deadline.  All applications are subject to approval or rejection by Golf Canada at any time before or after the start of play. 

Qualifier Field Composition (120 Players)

If over-subscribed, the qualifier field will be selected by Golf Canada on a first-registered, first-accepted basis.  The host province will receive 10 spots into the qualifier.  If your application is not one of the 110 selected, it will be placed on an alternate list in order of registration date.  Provincial spots will be awarded at the discretion of Alberta Golf provided those players meet the eligibility criteria. 

 

Entry Fee & Application Procedure

The entry fee for the Canadian Men's Amateur Qualifier is $250 CAD (tax included).  Those players who qualify must pay the balance of the entry fee ($150 CAD) and fill out an official registration prior to participating in the Canadian Amateur.  The $250 qualifier fee is credited to the championship entry fee.

 

Format & Qualifying Spots

The Canadian Men’s Amateur Qualifier is an 18-hole stroke play qualifier.  The number of spots available will be based on the number of entries Golf Canada receives prior to the registration deadline; however, Golf Canada will have a minimum of 6 spots available.  Any ties for a direct spot into the Championship will be resolved by a play-off immediately following Qualifier play.  There will also be a first and second alternate established by way of a tie-breaking procedure, if necessary.

 

After the start of the Qualifier, if a player withdraws from the championship, that spot will be filled from the Qualifier, not the waitlist.

CHAMPIONSHIP FORMAT

The Canadian Men’s Amateur Championship is a 72-hole stroke play championship:

 

  • Amateur Division: This competition will run through the completion of 72 holes.
  • Inter-Provincial Team Competition: This competition will run concurrently through completion of the first 36 holes. Each day, the lowest two out of three individual 18-hole scores will count towards the team score.


Day 1: Registration (Mickelson NationalGC only), Official Practice Round #1 (The Mickelson National GC& Heritage Pointe GC), and Player Reception (Mickelson National GC).

Day 2: Registration (Mickelson National GC), Official Practice Round #2 (Mickelson National GC & Heritage Pointe Golf Club ), Player Reception (Mickelson National CC).

 

Day 3 & 4: Round 1 & 2 – 18 Holes of Stroke Play (morning & afternoon crossover, both courses)

Day 5: Round 3 – 18 Holes of Stroke Play (morning crossover only, Mickelson National GC only)

Day 6: Final Round – 18 Holes of Stroke Play (morning crossover only, Mickelson National GC only, followed promptly by Awards Ceremony)

 


CUT POLICY
After 36 holes the field will be reduced to the low 70 players and ties.  Once the field is cut, the championship will move exclusively to Mickelson NationalGC for the final two rounds.

 


PLAY-OFFS

In the event of a tie for 1st place in the individual competition, it will be decided by a hole-by-hole playoff immediately following the conclusion of play.  Any players tied for other positions will remain tied.

 

In the event of a tie for 1st place in the inter-provincial team competition, it will be decided by the tie-breaking procedure, whereby the non-counting team player’s score for the 2nd round will be used.  If teams remain tied, the non-counting score from the 1st round will be used.  If teams remain tied, it will be decided by a hole-by-hole playoff immediately following the conclusion of team play on the 2nd round.   Any teams tied for other positions will remain tied.

 

 

REFUND POLICY AND NOTICE OF WITHDRAWAL

Entry fees will be fully refunded if the Golf Canada Tournament Director is notified of the player’s intention to withdraw before the final registration deadline (Adam Cinel; acinel@golfcanada.ca; 1-800-263-0009 ext. 322). 

 

Once a player is accepted into the championship, the entry fee will be processed and they are expected to participate.  If a player wishes to withdraw prior to the start of the championship, please notify Golf Canada well in advance to ensure an alternate has a fair opportunity to participate.  Failure to comply may result in DISQUALIFICATION from future Golf Canada competitions.

*Once a player is accepted into a championship, they will receive an acceptance email. If a player wishes to withdraw, they must do so within 72 hours of acceptance, otherwise they are subject to incur a $25 admin fee.
**Entry fees are non-refundable after the final registration deadline without a doctor’s note or medical certificate.  All refunds are subject to a $50 administrative fee after the early entry deadline.

  2. Cette compétition est ouverte aux golfeurs amateurs masculins qui sont membres d’un club de golf affilié à Golf Canada ou qui détiennent une adhésion de golfeur public à Golf Canada. Les joueurs étrangers doivent être membres en règle de leur association de golf respective.
  3. Toutes les demandes d’inscription seront soumises à l’approbation de Golf Canada qui se réserve le droit d’accepter ou de refuser toute inscription en tout temps, avant ou durant le tournoi.
  4. PROCÉDURE ET FRAIS D’INSCRIPTION

  1. Après s’être inscrits, les joueurs recevront un courriel les informant que leur inscription est EN ATTENTE. Le paiement ne sera pas traité tant que le golfeur ne sera pas ACCEPTÉ. Une fois qu’un joueur est accepté dans un championnat et que son paiement a été traité, les frais d’inscription ne sont pas remboursables.
  2. Les joueurs étrangers doivent s’inscrire en tant que « non-membre ».
  3. Les athlètes canadiens doivent s’inscrire comme « membre de Golf Canada ». Vous serez alors invité à vous connecter à Golf Genius, en utilisant votre identifiant de membre de Golf Canada.   4.   5. Les frais d’inscription pour le Championnat canadien amateur masculin sont de 425 $ CA (taxes comprises) par joueur. Un droit de jeu sur terrain de golf public de 25 $ par joueur (compris dans les frais d’inscription de 425 $) est associé à la présentation du tournoi au Heritage Pointe Golf Club. TABLEAU DE COMPÉTITION

Le Championnat canadien amateur masculin comptera un maximum de 264 joueurs. Si le nombre de participants inscrits est insuffisant à la date limite, tous les joueurs admissibles seront acceptés. Si le tableau de compétition est en surnombre à la date limite, le Comité de sélection de Golf Canada choisira les joueurs non exemptés au tableau. Veuillez noter que les membres des équipes provinciales ne sont pas assujettis à la limite d’index de handicap. Golf Canada se réserve le droit de réviser le tableau de compétition des championnats en fonction des inscriptions reçues avant la date limite d’inscription de chaque tournoi.

Chaque Association provinciale de golf dispose d’un quota d’inscriptions au Championnat canadien amateur masculin. Chaque Association provinciale décide de la composition de son contingent. Golf Canada invitera les joueurs qualifiés par le truchement de leur Association provinciale. Les joueurs doivent soumettre leur inscription dans les 72 heures suivant la réception de leur invitation. Les places qui n’auront pas été utilisées par une province dans les délais prescrits reviendront à Golf Canada qui les utilisera à sa discrétion.

ÉPREUVE DE QUALIFICATION SUPPLÉMENTAIRE POUR LE CHAMPIONNAT CANADIEN AMATEUR MASCULIN

Golf Canada organisera une épreuve de qualification en vue du 120e Championnat canadien amateur masculin vendredi le 24 juillet 2026 au Mickelson National Golf Club. Tous les joueurs non exemptés et ne faisant pas partie de leur quota provincial doivent tenter de se qualifier ce vendredi 24 juillet.

Admissibilité à l’épreuve de qualification

Cette compétition est ouverte aux golfeurs amateurs qui sont membres d’un club de golf affilié à Golf Canada ou qui détiennent une adhésion de golfeur public à Golf Canada. Les joueurs étrangers doivent être membres en règle de leur association respective. L’index de handicap doit être de 2.4 ou moins en date de la demande d’inscription et d’échéance des inscriptions. Composition du tableau de compétition de l’épreuve de qualification (120 joueurs)

Si le tableau de compétition compte trop de joueurs, Golf Canada sélectionnera les joueurs en fonction du premier inscrit, premier accepté. La province hôte de l’évènement disposera de 10 places au tableau de compétition de l’épreuve de qualification. Si votre candidature ne fait pas partie des 110 autres joueurs sélectionnés, vous serez inscrit à une liste de substituts dans l’ordre des dates d’inscription. Les places du contingent provincial seront attribuées à la discrétion de Golf Alberta sous réserve de l’admissibilité de ces joueurs.

 

Procédure et frais d’inscription

Les frais d’inscription pour l’épreuve de qualification en vue du Championnat canadien amateur masculin sont de 250 $ CA (taxes comprises) par joueur. Les joueurs qui se qualifieront devront payer le solde de leurs frais d’inscription au Championnat canadien amateur masculin (soit 175 $ CA) et remplir un formulaire officiel d’inscription avant d’y participer. Les 250 $ de frais de qualification sont déduits des frais d’inscription au championnat.

 

Formule de jeu et places de qualification

L’épreuve de qualification pour le Championnat canadien amateur masculin est un tournoi sur 18 trous en partie par coups. Le nombre de places disponibles au championnat sera fondé sur le nombre de demandes reçues par Golf Canada avant l’échéance des inscriptions; cependant, Golf Canada gardera un minimum de 6 places disponibles. Toute égalité pour une place au championnat sera départagée par une prolongation immédiatement après la conclusion du jeu de qualification réglementaire. Il y aura également des places de premier et deuxième substitut au besoin, déterminées par la procédure de bris d’égalité au besoin.

 

Après le début de l’épreuve de qualification, si un joueur se retire du championnat, sa place sera comblée à partir de la qualification et pas de la liste d’attente.

 

FORMULE DU CHAMPIONNAT

Le Championnat canadien amateur masculin sera disputé en parties par coups sur 72 trous :

 

  • Division amateur : Cette compétition se disputera jusqu’à la conclusion du jeu sur 72 trous.
  • Compétition interprovinciale par équipes : Cette compétition se disputera en même temps que les premiers 36 trous. Chaque jour, les deux scores les plus bas des trois scores individuels sur 18 trous compteront pour le score d’équipe.

 

Jour 1 :  Enregistrement (Mickelson National Golf Club), première ronde officielle d’entraînement (Mickelson National GC et Heritage Pointe Golf Club) et réception des joueurs (Mickelson National GC).

Jour 2 : Enregistrement (Mickelson National GC), deuxième ronde officielle d’entraînement (Mickelson National GC et Heritage Pointe GC) et réception des joueurs (Mickelson National GC).

Jours 3 et 4 : Rondes 1 et 2 – 18 trous en parties par coups (croisement le matin et l’après-midi, sur les deux parcours)

Jour 5 : Ronde 3 – 18 trous en partie par coups (croisement le matin, Mickelson National GC seulement)

Jour 6 : Ronde finale – 18 trous en partie par coups, (croisement le matin, Mickelson National GC seulement, cérémonie de remise des prix immédiatement après le jeu)

 

POLITIQUE DE COUPERET

Après 36 trous, le tableau sera ramené aux 70 premières places, y compris les égalités. Après le couperet, le championnat se déroulera au Mickelson National GC seulement pour les deux dernières rondes.

 

PROLONGATION

En cas d’égalité pour la 1ère place de la compétition individuelle, le départage se fera par prolongation trou-par-trou immédiatement après la fin du jeu réglementaire. Les joueurs à égalité pour d’autres positions resteront à égalité.

 

S’il y a égalité pour la 1ère place dans la compétition interprovinciale par équipes, on utilisera la procédure de bris d’égalité, où le score du joueur de l’équipe n’ayant pas compté pour la 2e ronde servira à départager les équipes. Si ces équipes restent à égalité, le score non compté de la 1ère ronde sera utilisé. Si les équipes sont toujours à égalité, elles seront départagées par une prolongation trou par trou immédiatement après la fin du jeu par équipes de la 2e ronde. Les équipes à égalité pour d'autres positions resteront à égalité.

 

POLITIQUE DE REMBOURSEMENT ET AVIS DE RETRAIT

Les frais d’inscription seront entièrement remboursés si le directeur de tournoi de Golf Canada (Adam Cinel : acinel@golfcanada.ca; 1-800-263-0009, p. 322) est avisé avant la date limite des inscriptions finales de l’intention du joueur de se retirer.

 

Une fois que les joueurs sont acceptés pour un championnat, leurs frais d’inscription sont encaissés et l’on s’attend à ce qu’ils participent au tournoi. Si un joueur souhaite se retirer avant le début d’un championnat, il doit en aviser Golf Canada bien à l’avance afin de donner une chance équitable à un remplaçant de jouer. À défaut de respecter cette obligation, le joueur s’expose à une DISQUALIFICATION des futures compétitions de Golf Canada.

 

Le calendrier ci-dessous décrit la politique de remboursement pour les joueurs acceptés :

*Lorsqu’un joueur est accepté à un championnat, il reçoit un courriel d’acceptation. Si un joueur souhaite se retirer, il doit le faire dans les 72 heures suivant son acceptation, à défaut de quoi il s’expose à des frais d’administration de 25 $.
**Les frais d’inscription ne seront pas remboursés après la date limite d’inscription finale sans présentation d’une note de médecin ou d’un certificat médical. Tous les remboursements sont soumis à des frais d’administration de 50 $ après l’échéance des préinscriptions.
